This words are so funny, especially 얼룩말 hahahaha but I missed the best one which is 반바지. 반 means half and 바지 means pants. So shorts in korean is half of the pants 😂😂😂😂😂 This is so genious 🙈

Compound words are fun to learn because they are usually both logical and a little weird in a nice way which makes them easier to remember. In Swedish we have lots and lots of compound words, some of them very long, consisting of several different words put together. Thank you for this video, I really like all of your excellent learning material!

질문있어요: why do we add 한 before a time unit? 예를들면: 한 두달, 한 삼십분~~~
@user-pg7ri5ro4x
Жыл бұрын
한 is similar to "about". We use it to talk the presumed time, same as English. for example: "한 삼십분쯤 걸려." = "it would take about 30 minutes" ->not exact, just about "삼십분 걸려." = "it takes 30 minutes" ->specified, more exact. hope you got it!

TTMIK is a game changer when it comes to learning languages. i'm a language learner enthusiast, i'm fluent (or so) in 3 languages and a beginner in 3 others. i've learned more of korean in 1 year with TTMIK than i learnt in 7 years at school in a nightmarish language i won't be mentionning. this video was extra fun. korean indeed is a fun and cute language but tbh, every language has its fun part. TTMIK are expert at making you notice the logic and the fun behind learning and it's fantastically efficient. The world needs TTMI [every language]. no one asked but there are different words in spanish too for fish. If it's an animal (alive) is "pez", and for food it's "pescado" (which is the same word as the gerund "fished"). People won't understand easily if you get it wrong, food and animal aren't in the same category in the brain. What makes it hard in korean, it's that "mulgogi" (as ""water meat"") actually is a living animal, and "saengseon" is food, aka in my brain, water meat.. but now they pointed it out, i'm pretty sure i will remember. Kudos to the great teachers 👏👏👏

There're several compound words similar to my mother tongue (malay). We say "tahi bintang" = shooting star "tahi" is poop and "bintang" is star. "anjing laut" ( dog + sea) = seal We say "kuda belang" ("kuda" is horse and "belang" is strips = zebra) We say "kaki botol" ("kaki" is leg and "botol" is bottle, meaning heavy drinker) Other one we have a compound word meaning "kaki bangku" (stool legs) meaning someone that can't play football/soccer.

Re: 별똥별 Korean really went "Shooting star? More like sh*tting star!" I'll see myself out. On a more serious note, I love the animal compounds. Recently learned that 바다코끼리 (sea+elephant) equals walrus. I assume it's because both elephants and walruses have tusks?
