I guess January/February 1969 was just destined to be one where piano would play such a lovely role in the overall musical part of my winter landscape. One disk jockey seemed to
have a thing about playing Floyd Cramer's "Last Date" a lot as an oldie. I'm glad he did. "Things I'd Like To Say" by New Colony Six had a piano accompaniment I'll never forget. Then there was this beautiful, jazzy instrumental by Young-Holt Trio (which is what they were still being called on the radio although the name apparently had changed to Young-Holt Unlimited). It's a dreamy tune, perfect for winter dusks, winter nights, and winter dawns (yes, or even summer days, although it will always be winter I'll associate it with the most).
Released in November 1968, the song peaked at #1 in Canada, and in the US at #3 on Billboard's Hot 100 on January 18, 1969, and at #4 on Cash Box for two weeks beginning January 11, 1969.
