Seems if this lockdown continues a lot of ppl will find out what it's like. It's not something I would wish on anyone. Perhaps a vision I have had of communities forming where tent cities and rv/cars are formed where if you're homeless you can come and start a life again. Before I became homeless I knew it was coming and started trying to help. I got ripped off repeatedly. I pray about it every day and have vision of parcels of land where the disadvantaged will find safe haven. No one will make them move if they nap in their bag or on a blanket. All will contribute to the community to have pleasant grounds and to expand as the need arises. Anyone with me on this? I'm ready. Let's get this started before the numbers skyrocket. It's going to happen pretty soon I reckon. A 5 acre piece of land is a good start. Get a business plan/license and start taking donations!!! Who's with me?

I was living out of my van in the Venice area. It can be sketchy and I am a guy. I was so lucky to have a van where I could lock up my stuff and sleep in peace, with my piece under my pillow. I got into CSUDH and did the homeless thing in front of that university while I finished up my degree. Got myself off the street but it was a mix of luck and hard work, mostly luck. Lucky to be a guy, lucky to have a van, lucky to get into school and lucky be able to pull financial aid and student loans. Now I am in debt and working. Modern serf, indentured to the system. Just a few paychecks away from being back on the street. It is a thin veneer that separates many of us working stiffs from the homeless.

...........in 2009 I was shit canned from my job. I did not know how things would turn out. I went to SSDI and applied. I went to the VA and asked for their help. Luckily, they both came to my assistance. But with that all said, I never once think that I am secure. Not even the fact that I own 3 homes. Not fancy homes at all. Kind of run down actually. I don't rent anything because I don't want the headaches. I bought a small camper 2 years ago in the event the shit hits the fan. I think it's going to. I keep my tow vehicle filled with fuel. I have 10 extra gallons in my garage. That's enough fuel to get me into Canada. I would load up my cats, grab all the canned goods I have on hand, my generator, long guns, space heater(s), books and be on my merry way. I would survive without being a panhandler. I know I would.

It's so heartbreaking that just one mistake can lead to a lifetime of consequences. When your heart is broken it's so hard to find self worth and the energy to try from scratch. I've noticed many homeless have a problem staying in victim status. The key is to forgive yourself, forgive others and ask God everyday for the strength to move forward in the right direction. If you have addiction issues start with rehab to get off the street. Go from there. No man is going to save you. You have to save yourself. God bless you sweetheart. ❤️

It’s not easy, but it’s something I have to do to be able to have food to eat, a roof over my head and a bed at night. I never wished for it, I just did it. I didn’t have a job for four months once and put in over 500 applications and went to 25 interviews before I was finally hired. During that time I was in bad place mentally I thought there was no hope for me and although not similar to being homeless in anyway, the feeling of hopelessness is what these people feel. My first question that comes to mind...she was once married and left because of abuse. But didn't she have an I.D. then? What happened to it? In 78, my wife left me for another man and within weeks, I lost my job. The house we were in was owned by her mother so I was without a place to live and no job. That is when choices had to be made and I decided that my choice was to never give up. I worked at some crappy, low paying, part time, leading to nowhere jobs, and lived in a crappy old van. I bathed in a creek. I did have some camping gear (lantern, cooking utensils, etc.) and a dirt bike for transportation. After a year of living like that, I finally got a full time job at a gas station. From there, it was a constant lookout for better paying jobs that had some sort of future. Now, at 70, I have retired and have all I need and most things I wanted. NEVER GIVE UP!

Bless her that must be hard not seeing your kids. People judge the homeless so badly, but I always see broken humans that need love and support and just do not have it. With the wealth in this country there should be no homeless yet its astounding how many there actually are. There has to be a bridge to go from the people that want to help, directly to the homeless. There are alot of people that can and want to help. We need to make this happen somehow. Im working on ideas, because I literally lose sleep over homeless people, it makes me so sad for them. We are all children of God, no one is better than the other, the homeless, broken people mean just as much to God as the celebrities living in their mansions. No one life is worth more than another. All these homeless people are someone's child. And we are all children of God.

Miss Demeanour Don’t be so quick to judge , we don’t know the whole story also i have four kids , I’ve been in situations where I’ve locked myself in my kids room to hide from their dad trying to abuse me , yet he wouldn’t ever dare harm my kids except through mental abuse of telling them mommy doesn’t love them . People are sick and twisted . You never know the real situation but it could’ve been a situation where she had to leave to save her own life and wanted to come back for the kids . I personally couldn’t leave my kids but I’ve been in situations where there’s no way I could get four kids safely and myself out the house . Especially when he’s came in drunk in the middle of the night . Kids in different rooms - never know what people are going through . Just saying .

I had no money, nothing, just the clothes on my back. I would not and could not leave my child with such an abusive man. She could have called the cops, after she got out and got the kids then, the kids would have told the cops what he was like.. There’s is definitely more to this story. But she is now homeless and I do feel compassion for her❤️ nobody is perfect!💯

Having volunteered many times over the years at homeless shelters I have found that a great majority of homeless folk are at some level mentally ill. The majority of them are master manipulators and often lie. I had to get past this in order to try and help them. Most have extensive legal problems and can't work without an id and can't get an id because of a warrant somewhere. We need to understand that it doesn't matter how they got to this point but how to help them now that they are in the homeless community. It's easy to pass judgment from the "safe side". Never give money to them unless you are ok that your earned money will be spent on drugs. Give them socks and underwear if you really want to help. Give money to organizations that are in place to help. Great video brother!

There was a very interesting concept on a documentary the other night, where during the industrial revolution in the UK homeless and the very poor were offered jobs for food ,shelter, small amount of money and training , it worked on a sliding scale where once they had the training on the first farm they would move to another where they would learn to manage a farm, then another where they would manage, then onto another where they would teach others to manage and then finally offered land to purchase of their own. Why has this concept disappeared? It seems such a good idea, and Mark if you read this you're doing good work my man

There is a fine line that separates "us" from "them". If not for the grace of God and my Mom all 4 of us would have been tossed. She kept us together, a roof over our heads, clothed, and fed. Sometimes those roofs didn't have power from time to time, we had to mend / make our own clothes, and other times she went hungry so we can eat. We survived together. Some people don't have people. It doesn't take much. An event, a sickness can put you out. Sometimes out of life itself. Anyways, we fought, worked, scrounged, and most of us made it thru. Take nothing for granted. Love yourself so others can. Peace be with us all.

I never liked the term homeless personally, I left home at 15 due to physical abuse with a couple hundred buck in my pocket in the late 90's and wandered this world for 5 years without stopping. Seeking to make my own life and fortune. It's not something I would advise for most people. But it did make the reality of this world very clear to me. Its why most expensive things have never impressed me and why I built my life with the reminder that I should be grateful for what I have instead of focusing on what I do not. Not going to lie, a warm shower is a simple joy in life that I fully take advantage of so I totally understand her view point on that.
