it must've taken them at least a few years before they trusted that he was intelligent enough to not only files their taxes for them but also outwit the irs if they ever get audited but once they did, i imagine it was the happiest day of their lives

2:48 Unfortunately, he's wrong. U.S Law makes it clear that "Payment" most be in the form of currency or tradable assets. A "Model Train" would not count in this instance.
@maksimbolonkin
Жыл бұрын
In reality any form of compensation would probably suffice to prove violation of the statutes. Otherwise you could "pay" in groceries to avoid liability. And you can totally trade a model train especially in certain model train collector circles. Imagine the father got him a comic book. Would you say you can't trade a comic book?

"currency or tradable assets" it's a vague thing no? To enforce this law even further? I'm not a law student, I'm just curious, A model train, toy, property, real estate, all falls to "tradable assets" pokemon trading cards can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, so technically it's a "tradable assets" model trains can also hold value to different people, so by definition, it is a tradable asset no? Or am I wrong? Again, I'm not a law student

A train set for a child doing taxes, seriously? breaking the Tax code. I love to hear if that could be enforced or a judge rule for the State on that one!!
@SinisterPixel

Context of the episode matters here. Sheldon had gotten the family incredibly large tax write-offs for several years. The auditor was trying to find a technicality so that Sheldon's tax returns could be thrown out. Basically, Sheldon was so smart that he was cheating the IRS out of thousands of dollars

@CharlieZuko

@@BeansOnButter excelent question. When you let go of a piece your turn is over (no take backs). You can only hit the clock AFTER you made your move. Using the same hand to move and hit the clock ensures you don’t hit the clock too soon. Time is very precious in a tournament game, every split second can make a difference in the end game. That’s why this same-hand rule is enforced.

Yes! I mean the laws would be about 20/30 years different given Shawshank was set in the 40's for its initial start and went through the 50's and ultimately ends in 67 when we Followed Red through parole to meeting up with Andy and I believe Young Sheldon is set late 80's and Early 90's and surely in the intervening years between the 2 Characters there would have been some changes to US Tax laws and rules but god damn it yes that would be cool
