I actually have been selling Bratz from childhood this week, and was commenting here trying to find out if I am one of those douchebags people here talk about. I sat the price of Ooh La La Cloe with her shirt, jacket, shoes, handbag and hat at 35. It sold today after 4 days on Ebay and Facebook :) I think the problem with Ebay is that they seem to push the high prices. I am very interested in collector items and rare stuff, so I would have loved it if there was very rare Bratz. Heard something about a collectors line coming out this year, but I am usually most interested in old collectibles. Actually, I had an auction on Pixiez Cloe, with ALL her clothes AND Wings AND unicorn, and it ended at 10 dollars 🤣 And I had set the shipping 2 dollars under what it cost me to send, so made 8 dollars. I am just saying that to say there are absolutely possible to find good deals :)) I found a 1st edition Cloe in a bin at a SECOND HAND shop a few weeks ago, and the lady working there laughed at me when I asked how much. She said «She dont even have legs. 3 dollars»

i think another thing to consider w value disparity w collector dolls such as holiday barbies and highly sought after playline dolls like princess and the pauper barbies is that since holiday barbies r collector there is a huge supply of them in box whereas the movie barbies are playline meaning most of the dolls will be out of box and most likely in horrible condition since they would have been played with by small children. therefore in some cases it might actually be more difficult to find a good condition playline doll than it would be to find good condition collector dolls

I collect American Girls and while there are some genuinely rare dolls and items that only come on the market once every couple years, I’m going to skewer my eyeballs if I see one more Samantha or Kanani listed as rare. Samantha is probably the best selling AG of all time, and unless you have a rare variant of her (signed, “white body,” Pleasant Company New In Box, Costco exclusive release, rare defects, etc etc…) she’s probably only worth around $60-$85 (if she’s in good condition). Kanani was one of the best selling modern characters, and while she’s incredibly unique in terms of her design, THERES SO MANY OF HER, and yet she’s a holy grail item for a lot of collectors. Recently the AG collecting community decided to latch onto Ivy (a 1970s historical doll) and suddenly she’s going for 200-500 dollars second hand?? She is rather hard to find, but I also wouldn’t call her rare in comparison to some of the ACTUALLY rare AG dolls, and a couple months ago you could find her for $50-$120 dollars.

I collect dolls and furbies too and its so hard to find fairly priced furbies since they had a little resurgence in popularity a few years ago. But i found its a lot cheaper to buy from other fans, I've gotten furbies for $20-$30 from other collectors on tumblr. Dolls on the other hand are usually much harder to find for cheap because most collectors are looking to expand their collection and won't sell, I've even seen people with multiple NIB of the same dolls. Great video! You are so right in all the points you made. I have been very patient as a collector of Living Dead Dolls a line that has never been widely available on toy shelves like the dolls you mentioned. On Ebay they have also gone up in prices because that line, though not officially announced, is pretty much done after 20 years (though the movie characters such as Silent Hill Nurse and Elvira have kept Living Dead Dolls under Presents). I have been interested in Monster High and it is ridiculous how expensive the first run dolls are since I know they were more mass produced than LDD. I have held out and again I agree with you, patience is key to getting what you want as a collector for the price you want to pay for. This video I feel should be watched by everyone who collects toys, no matter if the toy is an action figure or doll. Thanks for making this video, it had to be said.

this video caught my attention because i used to collect bratz dolls as a kid and i'm currently a kpop photocard collector and well... watching this i can say i notice a lot of things in common! as some people in the comments have said i think quarantine has highly affected the amount of money people are willing to spend on collectibles and so many collectors in general seem to be struggling with sellers manipulating market prices and it's sad to see :/ i'd much rather wait until these things inevitably lose value over time, it's all made up after all and so is the supposed "rarity" of certain items that are still being highly circulated

I sign under every word! The world is just going crazy with that ridiculous prices.. I wanted Bratz Dresden so bad but 500-700$ for her is insane. And I got her for about 20$ at advertisement website. But I want several Sashas & all of them are and will be overprised so I'm happy with dolls I already have, after all U can't buy them all:)

In general collectibles have been going for more. Once people realized they could make money they did scummy thing like what was mentioned in the video. Add to that many people are home with nothing to do but start a new hobby and stimulus checks on the way. I'm a manga collector and oop titles where so much cheaper march before the pandemic but prices are already starting to fall from their peak because life is starting to go back to normal.

Similliar thing happened with ''pop'' LPS, every other figurine is cheap, but these specific shapes are so expensive. Some people attach name ''pop'' to any dog or cat... there is so many of them, but all descriptions market them as rare or uniqe - and the only ''pop'' that really is rare is Superhero Cat. People are making good quality fake figurines so some of collectors can have a less expensive ''pop'' but they're still more than avarge figurine of other shape. What worse some people sell them secondhanded for the same price as original. These figurines are everywhere, but some of them are listed for more than un-opened figures in box (production of generation I'm talking about was cancelled around 2012, in it's place came gen 3). It's really frustraiting for me, since it became a thing on such a big scale. The only ''pops'' I could find for resonable prices are in bigger sets made by the seller, with like house, a few figures and accesories - which is still pretty expensive but can cost not much more than avarge ''pop''.

There is another thing too. Playline dolls when they are first bought, are often bought so that the child plays with the doll, thus often ruining the doll, thus making less good condition dolls for the second hand market. I dont know how that fact puts itself in what you said, but I think its a piece of info rather important ....

There is only 3 releases of bratz dolls that are rare. IN MY Opinion WHICH ARE ALL REAR DOLLS. Which are… 1.)Bratz Boyz Twiins: Alek and Zac 2.) Tattooed Rock Angelz (not the rerelease without the tattoo) & 3.) Bratz Live in Concert: Jade and Nevra.

I recently bought a 1962 Bubble Cut Barbie, because years ago I listened to my peers and got rid of (gave away because they weren't worth much or so I was told) and one of them was her which my mom gave me for Christmas. She was my first Barbie. I was fortunate to get her in great condition with no green ear. I normally saw her for over $100.00. I was lucky. Some of the recent Barbie I have are rare and I don't see them on Ebay that much.

I am firstly a Monster High collector. I started collecting really early on so I would like to think I have a good grasp on what is "expensive" as far as prices go. Within the last year or so I started getting into the reboot Bratz (2015-16) and I have had a fun time learning about them and trying to hunt down deals. Some go for really high prices that I would never pay, but finding a doll NIB for 40 cnd shipping in? Yeah that is totally worth it. lol. So I do see some of what you are talking about in reference to the prices but I think that because I am not collecting the older ones, the prices are not as high thankfully. I think you did well for your first video. Keep up the good work!!!

No joke, a few years ago (like 2018) I remember seeing the Cowgirlz dolls on ebay all for around 30 bucks. I ended up not getting one. They're all over 100 bucks now, it's so dumb.

if it’s not a collector doll, it shouldn’t be going for a collector price. if you want the original bratz 2001 release get the 20th anniversary dolls! they’re $20 at walmart and $25 in target. they aren’t the same as the first release but you still get the same outcome.

What happens is it makes a cycle where people go on eBay to gauge how much their doll is worth to sell, and of course they’re going to try selling it for the highest one they see, and it repeats..

But also I agree with the general atmosphere in groups dedicated to the hobby. It's legit just people coming in and asking about prices, and the prices going sky-high as a result DESPITE the answers these people are given because they think they know better. "It can't go for this cheap, it's VINTAGE!". These... these are just hunks of plastic. There's nothing special about them beyond the value YOU ascribe to them. People need to stop buying at these ridiculous prices and just wait for them to go down in price again.

I'm not super active in doll collecting at the moment (I have no room for new dolls) but the exact same thing is happening in the virtual pet/tamagotchi community right now. All discussions are about "how much is this version worth" or "is this shell rare?" etc... prices of many versions have skyrocketed too.

It is so important that we not buy overpriced dolls/toys from greedy people and scalpers. The message needs to be sent out that it is not acceptable to rip people off and drive up prices so people cannot enjoy their hobbies. I hate eBay for this. I now set a price of what I’m willing to pay and I enjoy the challenge of finding a bargain. It’s all part of the fun ❤

I was a huge mh fan as a child. I even still have them. There were so many amazing characters that I wanted that I didn't have yet. Now that they're expensive it'll be so much harder to add those to my collection. I barely got a second-hand Claude doll a year or two ago I was so happy. now he's probably 5 times what I paid for...

I never buy expensive dolls. Because I like opening the dolls. So at most I'll spend $150 on a barbie that I love. I dont buy ones I'm not interested in or think are ok. I just bought a fail fix dance styles off ebay for around $40-50 but I couldn't find her anywhere and I really wanted her. (Mostly it was the shipping fee)
