I've been playing for a year but at 70 it takes me a little more time then some others. But I am getting there. Thanks for taking time to show beginners how things are done on banjo.

Today is my first day! I watched a different KZitemr and learned how to tune my Tenor Banjo and I learned C, F and G chords. I've played Kumbaya twice now!! I'm looking to play Christian music at church. Not hymns, but more contemporary musicians like Sovereign Grace. Thank you!

I’m a raw beginner, just starting with Boil Them Cabbage Down. I was doing ok until the knuckle of my middle finger on my fret hand started locking up at 90 degrees. I had to take a couple weeks off and now I’m going very slowly, building strength. I mostly practice rolls. I’ll see how far I can get with my predisposition to tendonitis.

THANK YOU for the comment about needing to build up calluses! I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Any tips for how to keep from overlapping more strings than the one you're trying to fret?
@huntertestermusic

I keep all my fingers in the left hand at an angle. Also, make sure each of your fingers are standing on their tips to avoid touching the other strings.

@@huntertestermusic I am referring how one learning should hold their left hand so it is comfortable, not strained, and how to keep your thumb in the right place behind the neck. I have been keeping the banjo neck in the saddle between the thumb base and index finger base. Some teach this is not right so I am not sure.

@@tomference4618 I usually let the banjo neck sit in between my thumb and index finger in the left hand. Check out my intro to banjo playlist where I explain a little more on holding the banjo. If that’s not enough information, I’ll try to help further.
