As I’ve gotten older, I realize how important good sleep is for physical/mental health. I’ve heard that message all my life, but it isn’t until recently that it has actually gotten into my head… like a 💡finally switched on 🤣 Anyways, thank you for producing these videos on such an important topic. I subscribed to show my support

Since it's been more than a year without a video, congratulations on overcoming your internet addiction and graduating to Only Sometimes Tired-ish, I hope! I've been watching your older videos (they're all great), especially the sleep mask reviews and am considering the Tempurpedic one now 🙂

Can talk about how gut health is also correlated with sleep seen not only the pineal gland which is located in the forehead is responsible producing melatonin but also gut is also responsible for producing melatonin

Basically binged your entire channel in one night, oooops. I think I missed the point of the video 😂 I wish you had more videos. I love your approach on things. Totally investing in a better sleep mask because of you! I've been using a freebie I got on a long flight for the past year 🙈 don't judge me! I'd love to get your thoughts on those cooled/heated mattresses / mattress toppers. We need to help get you sponsorship for one! 😁 I've been using gray-scale + hidden notifications for the past few weeks before I found your channel and it's definitely a great way to make me pick up the phone less

This is one of the most rational discussions about internet usage and personal behavior in general I've ever seen on KZitem. Kudos and thanks for uploading it...! I have also noticed the stimulating effect of different light sources, particularly cell phones. I find incandescent bulbs to have an especially calming effect. Perhaps this is because they have a very similar light output to fire / candlelight, which of course most people find calming. It's unfortunate that they are so inefficient. But modern light sources are also harmful in their own ways. No easy answers here. As you mentioned, the close proximity that we are forced to use cell phones at definitely has a particular psychological effect. It's funny, growing up my mom would always tell me not to sit too close to the TV screen. But today, billions of people hold smartphones inches from their face without a second thought. Like you said, these things are tools, and perhaps we are better off learning to use them well than shunning them completely. Thanks again...!

These are some great strategies. My long term goal is to desire distraction less in the first place. There's the dopamine addiction but for me that comes from a place of feeling worthless

I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve had similar thoughts in the past I had to unlearn. It’s definitely a process to get past it. Not sure if you’re looking for advice but something that helped me was to reframe my self talk. So if your brain tries to tell you stuff like, ‘oh you’re such a fuckup’ or whatever your inner monologue says you can be like, ‘no, I’m doing the best I can with the tools I have.’ It takes time to unlearn these behaviors but you’re worthy of self compassion even if someone else is trying to tell you otherwise.

@@AlwaysTiredish exactly! Yeah I'm relearning self compassion. I did 10 years of talk therapy and CBT and now I'm trying Compassionate Inquiry. It's a method which Dr.Gabor Mate helped develop That reframe is so important though

@@thomasr1051 I bought one, it messed my back and neck up and reduced my sleep score from high 80's to the 70's. Most overhyped thing I've ever tried in life. If it works for someone, that's great. But holy hell did I regret buying one

Do you get annoyed when your hair poofs up while wearing sleep mask? How do you wear your hair to bed?

YES! For the longest time I was wearing a bun on the top of my head. I bought the pillow scrunchies by Kitsch and I love them. Lately I’ve been trying to see if I can grow out the hairs around my temples that tend to break, so I’ve been doing a side rope braid and that’s been working well too.
