Hi Igor, thanks for the videos. But in case of this one I´m afraid you gameplan only works if black doesn`t castle on move 11, which is obviously the most played move. Nice approach anyway.

At 11:32 I don't understand why black would capture with the knight instead of the pawn? That way, they don't give an equal exchange and their knight ends up guarding F7, stopping the white bishop moving there... Am I missing something obvious?

It's because of the bishop taking f7 tactic. You lose the queen either way 👍

Hello Igor, thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I used to play this opening but only had about 50% success. I am 1560 elo so not great. I have a better grasp of it now thank you. I have a question at about 18 minutes 27 secs. at the point where you have played Bg5 for white. Like i said I am only 1560 so I could be wrong. You don't need the Bishop move because you have QxN on d5 anyway. You cant take with the pawn because of the pin, and if you take with the Queen. The you have a family fork as we say in the UK.Nc7+ is forking King, Queen and Rook. Thank again
@prathameshjadhav5023
2 жыл бұрын
well it doesn't work because when you fork the king and the queen the king can slide to d8 while getting out of the pin and after you take the queen black is up 2 pawns which is not what you want.

I'm hoping this video gives me new insights like the recently learned "play king's gambit style Qb3 behind Bc4 when black plays e5" and have destroyed both of my opponents in THAT LINE. if THIS video does for my smith morra what your *AWESOME* hartlaub/charlick gambit video did for my slav/stonewall woes with an completely understandable system i'm waxing opponents 2:1 with at the 1700 level! if this can improve my smith morra results, there should be some ratings points improvement in it. maybe I'll learn more about the FUNDAMENTALS that trying to memorize 400 lines of theory
