I think ive gotten my security down well. Hitch padlock. PadLock on the folding jack. Pad lock on one of the roof latches and locks on the front box housing the battery and propane. You should see how many keys i have!

One additional security measure is to remove the safety chains when stored. We use the garage for our vehicles so the popup sits outside with a Reese ball lock. Removing the chains prevents someone from using the safety chains to pull the popup to a different location where they can remove the lock less conspicuously.

You can lock your security chains, while hooked to the vehicle. Once again, a bolt cutter will cut the locks but we are just trying to keep the 'honest' crook from having an opportunity. Thanks for the videos!

I use mine at a lake property, so it rarely moves. I took two steel trailer wheels, without tires, and had three pieces steel welded onto the wheel to make it sort of a jack-stand. I bolt the wheel to the axle in place of tires, and it is stable and secure. I don't have to worry about the tires going flat and nobody is going to steal it without removing the stands and putting on tires.

Most hunters have trail cams that can be set up 50 / 75 feet away. You might still get your stuff stolen but you will at least have some pictures of those responsible.

I don't expect any security from the locks AT ALL, but when I'm gone I usually leave my Anatolian Shepherd in my camper, what a surprise if they go to get in and a dog of a small pony meets you, uh oh. I also have a minature schnauzer that is such a barker, great alert dog. I surround the front of the camper with a portable kennel

Most criminals are lazy and in a hurry to get away. A pop up is too much work and time for them to take down to travel mode. That's a deterrent in itself.

This video got me thinking... what about a way to lock up propane tanks? Maybe you could use a GPS tracker in case of theft. But yeah, in general. If someone wants to steal it bad enough, they will. Just like with my Harley, I just make it as hard as possible for someone to do so.

Excellent video. I am a single female picking up my first pop up tomorrow. I never even thought of someone being able to reach in through the Velcro. Love the idea of the door alarm. Ant suggestions for a Nest type security camera for RVs? One that doesn't require WiFi that can text your phone if someone is lurking around outside - perhaps with a motion sensor light to scare people away?

The ring system on most front doors work great at making it possible to record anyone approaching and the ability to use your phone to communicate with them. Plus a cheap battery powered motion detector light at front and back corners stop sneaky people.

Hi. Thanks for cool ideas. I also close and lock my fold up stairs/door. Just another deterrent. Cy in Salt Lake City Utah USA 🇺🇸 P.s. wheel boot. Cable lock through wheel rim and trailer frame. Steel cable and massive lock on my propane tank and batteries bolted to trailer tongue.

great idea with the padlocks bad news those pad locks can be picked within 30 seconds then re locked so you would never know if someone was in there or not. i know a combination lock is a hassle but a better way to secure your stuff

A lot of the big fancy rvs are the same way with the keys. There’s a good chance someone in the campground has a key that will fit your door. My husband is a locksmith and we see and copy a lot of rv keys. That’s why I want a real vehicle like a van or something on a van chassis so I have driver and passenger doors so we can easily secure the rv door from the inside but still get in.

You can always remove a wheel (and the spare of course) once you are leveled. Unless someone is carrying around a spare tire and rim, your camper is safe.

Change those outside storage locks. My Wife and I changed ours got them Amazon they're designer locks just determine the size and length of the orinagle locks size of the Barrle and measure the length to get the right size to match your originals. Most pop-ups on the storage locks use a key with CH751 check the key and you see a number most are CH751.

You need to tell your viewers what has happened to YOU, if anything, with your pop up and what you did about it! I would also suggest you speak to any neighboring campers. Introduce yourself and work together to provide security for each other, in the event either of you are away from your site. This way your fellow campers know who you are and you know who they are!

@ItsPoppin

We don’t do anything for the propane tank or the battery. However, I have seen people lock their propane tank(s) to the frame via chain and a padlock. Also, there are some aftermarket propane tank and battery box locks, but it may depend on your set-up if they’ll work or not.

That's going to largely depend on your make and model. They all have different locks. You may also be able to just order a new key as many campers are keyed alike. Search for a "CH701" key.
