TTZero wins should never count as a proper TT win. They should go down in the record books as "TTZero" wins

Agreed. But how many did John Mcguinness win? If u take that off his total he'd be probably no more than 20 wins. Whereas Dunlop has won all of his in "proper" races. I'll correct myself..Chat GPT says mcguinness has only won 1 TT Zero race in 2014 so only one to take off his total. Whereas Rutter has won 4 TT Zero races..i think in 2018/19/22/23 so of his 8 wins only 4 have been "proper" ones!

A win is a win in my opinion. Same rules for everyone in the class. Seems harsh to not call it a TT win when they raced the TT, and won.

@@mandrakejake the races were just one lap so that's a reason why it's not a proper TT plus if u were on a Mugen u had a ridiculous advantage over everyone else & guaranteed to come 1st or 2nd as long as the bike doesn't break down.

@@JamesM0481 good points. But that's a result of the rules / championship. Same rules for everyone. Mugen had a big budget, admittedly, perhaps unfairly.

To me the TT Zero was just a glorified parade lap. The idea that it counts as a TT win has always seemed wrong those wins should really have an asterisk beside them in the record books

Daft question to ask Jonathon, based on the picture of school house and your comments about the barrier, Is it up totally to obscure the driveway entrances during the racing or is the gap still there ? As had it been up years ago, myself & a few other sidecar crews would be stuffed, As it was a handy place to pull into, Bike was safe with the owners of the house, A brew was always on, & a buttie if you required, And it was easier to leg it to the Mitre from there as well 😄

I'd buy the odd TM bits. McPint does his signature on his 'Markerboard', Kym Illman does Formula 1 prints of the F1 drivers with their signatures, maybe something similar? A great pic by PulsePhoto/Tracey etc that is signed by that TM at say going across Ballacrye/out of Ballagarey (an action pic!) about A3 size?

Electric bikes were withdrawn because they highlighted the main shortcoming of EVs generally. They have no range. You going nowhere is at the heart of EVs and 15-minure cities. This is much less of a problem on an island where EVs make sense. On the mainland, it's a different story. The mainland population is used to being able to travel 100s of miles in a day. They want to stop that.
@lonpfrb

Its unsustainable to travel 100s of miles in a day so it will stop one day. Living in a 15min City means that everything you usually need is within 15min walk, so no need to pollute the environment to live a good life. Big auto and big oil want to keep you in their control. Planning away from that is the step change we need to survive long term. Much better to save your carbon credits to go racing...
@01menyou

@lonpfrb you are a dangerously naive person. Big oil is controlling you, so you submit to a local authority controlling you instead? What's in this for you to think like that? Do you think the guy in the RollsRoyce will stay with you in a 15min city? It's just a basic freedom to travel, and you want to give it up because you're woke. If things are that bad, let's stop all racing, after all pollution is pollution.

The 2009 TTXGP electric rules allowed full streamlining giving significant advantages in terms of range and performance over conventional regular motorcycles converted to electric power. Mugen could have been challenged for a fraction of their budget had there been a will to change the shape and riding position of the bikes. Fully streamlined recumbent electric bikes would be quite a spectacle to witness. Unfortunately this style of racing does not appeal to mainstream manufacturers as no production bikes of this genre are likely to ever be built. It may happen one day, but the TT is probably not the place to pioneer such a radical departure for the very conservative road race fans, the race regulators and organisers
