In my humble opinion too many workers are getting injured or killed on the job. This can possibly be attributed to a few things, apathy about one's safety is a possibility. However, just in case it is something else I thought I would start this latest set of videos off with a primer on refusing dangerous work. I hope it provides some information. Feel free to leave a comment or two.

Great topic! This is something I often see as an issue in the US as well and was thinking of doing a video on it. It's really interesting to hear the differences between the US and Canada. Thanks for posting!

I’m a cashier at a greenhouse and they want me to climb a 20ft ladder to install lighting that should be tossed in the trash. It’s quite old and is reused from another store. The way this lighting is to be installed gives me little faith. I believe that shortly, that lighting would come down on displays, customers, and staff. I’m having an issue trying to say to my employer that I am not comfortable with it and that I don’t want to be a part in the installation. I am not an electrician, one to climb a 20ft ladder, or one to design cables to hold it in place. What can I do?

Hello and welcome to the channel! Sorry to hear you are being put iin this situation. I don't know your location or OHS jurisdiction so I can't really comment too much. However, I did leave some links in the description of the video that might help and give you some guidance. Basically the process starts with telling your supervisor, he or she investigates then makes the ruling whether it is safe or unsafe. Of course most jurisdictions provide the option for the worker making the complaint to pursue another ruling with the OHS authority. So, that is the route I would go. I hope this provides some help. --Kevin

Hello, thanks for the comment. As to how you would get a job in Canada, I can't really say. I know trades people are always in demand. I would say a good place to start would be the job sites like indeed.ca - Hope that helps. Cheers.

Hi, it is on the main page of my channel. Look on the about section of the channel page. Things are pretty tough all over right now thanks to Covid-19. I too am finding employment a challenge. Best of luck

Hey buddy your best course of action would be to travel to Canada as a visitor and claim you will not be seeking employment. It is important that you have A bit of money saved and a plan of your visit list of places you wish to visit. The immigration officers will ask about your plans and possibly search your cell phone and luggage for papers or messages related to employment seeking activities. Much easier to gain entry to Canada as a visitor on a vacation trip. Once in the country many jobs can be easily found which will pay cash "under the table" which will allow you to skip paying taxes to the government. After finding some opportunities and making some money you can return to your country and file the proper paperwork for a work visa and you will have some useful contacts and perhaps a job that you can return to. Another route is to volunteer as a farm labourer in return for room and board you work three to five hours a day and they will give you meals and a bed and sometimes they may pay a small wage. This allow you to meet some people and make some friends which can file paperwork on your behalf to expedite your work visa application.
