The important thing to remember is: No one defines YOU. Only YOU define you.
One of the lines in my 20 minutes of daily affirmations is, "They don't define me. Only I define me." I say that to remind myself when I am weighted down with being rejected or ignored - often in pitches and outreaches pertaining to my work - to not take it personally. (Easier said than done!)
We all deal in our life with negative mirrors - from simply being rejected or ignored, to more explicitly criticized, demeaned, ridiculed or mocked. It's hard to not internalize.
I was hiking this morning up to the Observatory. When I read the line again, I decided to record a message about it. My affirmation is about staying strong in my belief in myself regarding my work and proposals re idealistic initiatives - but the message about "Nobody defining you but you" applies to how you dress, what you eat, your body type, your skin color, your ethnicity - all of it!
Here's the affirmation: "Mighty I AM Presence, give me the strength, courage and divine inner spirit to accept when I am given "a pass" or ignored that it has nothing to do with me, my worth and being. They don't define me, only I define me. Bless those who at that moment are not available to see me, my idea or vision or essence. Let me ascend to a divine place of love and acceptance, as I hold onto the belief in myself or my idea as valid and worthy."
Again: No one defines YOU. Only YOU define you.
