I use 8 # mono on mine and use lures exclusively. Most of my fishing is done from a peddle kayak so long distance-casting is not too important for the most part. You can easily cast 1/8oz and 1/4oz lures a good distance with 8# mono. Most of my fishing is done with rod and reel but I never leave shore without a little Yoyito handline rig with me. I can either cast lures or troll them behind me with it. It's a very fun way to catch fish. I've tried a few other cheap plastic Yo-Yo reels but I consider the tiny 3.5" diameter Yoyito the finest hand line reel ever made. It's very important to make a paracord lanyard to wrap on your wrist while using it. It could easily end up at the bottom of the lake if you don't use a lanyard.

I have bought a second one in black I loaded it with 8 pound mono for freshwater use I would like a little more width on the spool for ease of rewinding line onto the spool but then it wouldn't slip into my pocket as easily they are a great bit of kit regards Mike

Its a high quality made reel and pocket sized if it was a little wider it would be perfect and you wouldn't have to concentrate winding the line back on have a look at the Cabuya reels they fish very well regards mike

I love my reel came on looking for a reel bag but when it came to $48 dollars to England , it got a little mad!! Would be nice to have the Original reel storage but a fly reel bag will do for $4.

I use a Maxpedition Barnacle pouch for mine and it's big enough to fit loads of other stuff in too. The neoprene pouch which comes with the reel is way too tight and offers very little storage space for tackle. I'll make a video on my set up in the next week or so.

What I think 🤔 when people talk about slack line fishing 🎣 is a line that’s not actively fished and the hook is not set by the fisherman. I used to do it with multiple hand lines by putting them in buckets 🪣 when a fish swam off the reel made a noise and I grabbed it. Circle hooks are best. The other way is to pass a loop of line through the hole in the back of the reel around a flexible tree branch to act as a hook 🪝 setting shock absorber

@@kisbushcraftdownunder the one where loop the line through the reel over tree branches is the set-up I'm referring too, do you have a video on how that is done, is there a special fishing knot you are supposed to use?
@kisbushcraftdownunder
Жыл бұрын
@@REVY01 I would snell knot circle hooks as you get a better hook up rate as the fish hooks its self as it swims away, with hand reels you need to keep rigs simple a bean sinker running up to the hook 🪝casts the best you can use a drink can squish in the middle put a couple of turns of line around it as audio alarm as it get dragged down to the water by a struggling fish

From your experience, which is the better purchase, yoyito or exotax xreel?
@kisbushcraftdownunder
2 жыл бұрын
The yoyito holds more line and you can retrieve line faster due to the larger diameter than the xreel so if I going fishing especially in saltwater I take the yoyito if I going hiking and I might get chance to fish its the xreel

@kisbushcraftdownunder

@@MrTiiNy123 yes it fishes better and it still fits in a jacket pocket line retrieval is better as you don't have to concentrate with a narrow spool and cheap enough that you can afford a couple to load up with different types of line for different types of fishing 🎣

@@malthus101 I used platypus pre test in pink for years and caught plenty of fish I think the line diameter is more important than colours thinner gives a better (more natural) presentation these days I am putting on a leader of fluorocarbon regards Mike
