This duel is even more amazing than you realize. Hope Roots is one of the most "Very Situational" cards that has been used in the show, yet it was the perfect card to take down Eliphas, who was basically a dictator trying to take everything away from those "contaminated" by Chaos (His own citizens, and Yuma). This is symbolized by Etheric Amen, his highest ranked monster, which has the ability to absorb the opponent's deck in chunks. And then, Hope Roots receiving power from the cards that Etheric Amen absorbed as units parallels with the people of Astral World making the decision to support Yuma

I fucking love Yuma Tsukumo He has faults, and he didn't start out perfect. None of us start out perfect, we all go through a learning curve, and the fact we were able to watch Yuma's immense growth throughout ZEXAL is extremely inspiring, because he shows us that we can improve ourselves too, and that it's okay to be bad at first. He's honestly an amazing MC. Yuma isn't just the dude that fixes everything for everyone, but he still feels like a main character. He's not the strongest just because he's the Yu-boy, but we see him grow throughout all of ZEXAL and the end result of his growth is so satisfying to see, with help from the amazing characters Kaito and Shark. Still, Kaito is actively stronger than him, from beginning to the end, and that's amazing and so refreshing to see amidst Yusaku and Yusei who just made their entire respective series' about themselves. His extreme dedication to helping someone is admirable. His Kattobingu spirit, taking on challenges without fear and having the courage to take a step forward, is also very important in modern society and very inspiring. Just watching his overzealous nature makes me feel pumped to drive forward!! And there's so much depth to his character. For example, as we see from the Yuma vs III duel, Yuma puts on a mask like Yusei. Behind his joyful nature, he was scared of what his friends thought about him. That's actually why he was so stubborn during the beginning and didn't listen to Astral, he wanted to prove his own worth to his friends. By the end of the series, we see him regain the ability to smile and have fun during duels, like Judai, after all the pain and suffering he went through. Like Yugi, he beats his mentor/partner, again displaying the immense growth he went over the course of the show. Although ZEXAL did the partner thing MUCH better than DM did, as we could actually see Yuma and Astral's relationship change as the series went on.

This is a beautiful moment, probably one of the best in the entire anime. Though many may disagree, excluding those within this comment thread, I would think that Zexal had the most soul out of the 5 animes they have released. As a kid, 11 years of age, I fell in love with this show, not just for the flashy colors, incredible battles, or even watching the game mechanics in action. Truthfully, it was Yuma’s character development which resonated with me the most. His character brimmed with idealism in almost every duel. I would find myself replaying episodes just to account for the moment Yuma would break through his opponents emotional wall with a moral speech. Those moments really sold the anime for me as they taught me valuable lessons. It taught me from a young age how the strength of willpower can prevail, even against the toughest of evils. Another was to learn how to use your willpower and your strength to help others, to care for them. The last that kindness is important in our world and it is good to care for others as a base rule. When we think of hero’s in our world we think of the men and women that died defending others in the pursuit of peace. Yuma is much like those figures, though eventually hardened by their found strength, deep down at their core, they care for others and that care drives people like Yuma forward. That is what makes Zexal so incredible. It is essentially a story about another of history’s compassionate heroes fighting save others out of kindness. In a way this anime teaches a moral lesson to children what historians have much trouble getting across in words. “It is good to use that skills you’ve learned to help others, even if they don’t want to be helped”

In my opinion, yuma's true ace is hope roots and Astral's ace is number 39 utopia One can say both are the aces because they are the half of each other's soul But the philosophy behind roots and yuma's boss , number F0 is how yuma sees victory , you can reach victory without the need to always rank-up Astral sees victory in order to achieve it you have to rank up and follow the track and the exact formula to win. Astral guided yuma to number 39 in order to reach that mission with him which is possessing the numeron code and rewriting the world for Astral world to exist only , Number 39 was a step for all his evolutions Whereas yuma's use for number 39 utopia made him learn more about himself , potentially he became so dependent on him that he beats over any strong monster with him He doesn't strive for evolution, he strives for an unknown possible future for the likes of himself !

I honestly think that YuGiOh Zexal might have the best duells in the whole yugioh anime. I mean they are so many fire ones, Yuma vs Kite, Nash vs Quattro was an epic one, Yuma vs Don Thousand and the list goes on. Zexal is so awesome and the most underrated from all on. The best yugioh is for me an pick em between GX and Zexal.

I always liked how instead being an expert from the first episode who just got better cards when the plot needed it, Yuma started out as a dogshit duelist. Granted, Yuma absolutely got cards that just happened to be perfect for a given scenario like all the Yugioh protagonists have done, but Yuma put in the work to get better. On a side note, it bugs that they brought Hope Roots and the Rank Down spell into the real game and never did anything else with that idea.

@@scarletrose8766 it's more of an astral world thing. you notice that the don doesn't do back to back shining draws like eliphas does. for the astral world their duel is all about perfection, and shining draws are the epitome for that. why astral and yuma don't do it is up to debate, but my assumption will be that eliphas shining draw is the type that lets him draw anything in his deck while yuma and shark's shining draws are the type to go beyond their decks.

@@nekoluxuria7721 so eliphas may have a different shining draw then. While Yuma and shark while limited use it had different effect
