In the Ota - Massialas match, there is a parry, then hit to back that Ota does. It’s a great hit, and a superb example of his speed. Even the commentators were wowed. It would go great with this video.

That hit was incredible! Really nerves of steel 🤩 I made certain to include it in this trickshot video 😅 must have missed it editing somehow this time around: kzitem.info/news/bejne/zXeouH6Co2NlmYo

1:56 2:58 you know you have insane bladework (and working brain) if you can deduce (and parry, obviously) Garrozo's delayed riposte

2:29 footwork here is amazing by yuki, but it looks somewhat different from a traditionally advance, its sorta like a bouncing but with the important stability of the core not bouncing. And it is a little bit high then a traditional staying low en grade

Ota, one of my favourite Foilists. Always a big fan of his. At least nowadays he's retired and currently the President of the Japanese Fencing Federation doing everything to keep promoting the sport. However, I think as fast as Ota is, Lee Kwanghyun is the fastest (not by much though): kzitem.info/news/bejne/sGqYqpuMh4hjgZg

@Olympic Foil we might complete the fast foilist compilation by adding Heo Jun and Erwann Le Pechoux then.

Good names! I just had a look at the rankings for other fencers. The top ten are relatively fast (of course), but no crazy speedsters like Ota at the very top right now. Can't wait for Tokyo, with the Olympics you never know who will shine!

well by footwork, yes I agree with you. Bladework-wise, though, Ota has (or in his case, had) faster (and more pristine) bladework
@xDinomanx

@@christianalbertjahns2577 I'd say Lee still has really fast bladwork too, It's just Lee tends to fight with more direct compound actions rather than Ota prefers to flick and use remise's.
