It's sweet how nervous Dave was. Anyone who loved music so much as a child can relate. I sure can. I had never heard anything like Cat Stevens and still haven't.

Saw him with Alun Davis in Cardiff when I was a student in about 1969 and he was booed by many who wanted dance music. He carried on like a real pro singing his seemingly simple but actually quite complex songs with their key and rhythm changes. One of the greats.

All of my children and grandchildren heard and loved “Moonshadow,” as a lullaby. I love this artist and his work. It was so personal and that made it feel that it was written just for me, and everyone who hears him feels exactly that way. All these years after first hearing them, his music does not sound dated or irrelevant. That is true artistry.

Cat Stevens doesn't need this award from the establishment of music so called masters. Seems their recognition is some what 40 odd years late in coming, they are hypocrites. They didn't give him before because he changed his lifestyle and religious view, I think that was Cat Stevens choice and should have been respected. Sorry about the rant but Cat's music has been so inspirational to millions of people his lyrics and music has personal meaning to so many unlike many other pop artists... just saying how graceful cat is and his music still rebounds on many levels to age groups.....
