It might just be because Nintendo is going to release a follow up to the Switch very soon, which will be probably backwards compatible with the original Switch library, in this case, they might have foreseen that Yuzu will continue to be a hassle to them, from a company's perspective, current gen emulation is a detriment to their business, we like it or not. If that's the case, Ryujinx might be at risk in the near future. Nintendo is too big and developers just don't want to deal with legal issues. You ask why months after TOTK and others ask why it happened just right before the end of the Switch's life cycle, to me, it means they are looking forward to their next Switch release.

I 100% agree. Like I said I’m not so naive that I don’t believe people use YUZU for Piracy. At the same time I think Nintendo as a business could be significantly more profitable.

They are keeping their tradition and only in a very desperate situation they'd change that. Keeping their software locked to their own hardware, that is. It's still working here in the future, and I myself thought the Switch wouldn't fly, I was wrong, I'm still not a fan, though, but it's working for them. Strangely, Nintendo have been releasing some flops from time to time, the Game Cube and the Wii U, as more recent examples, let's see what happens in their next endeavor. As for using emulation to 'pirate' their software, this is obviously how it's primarily used, like 99% of the cases, but also, it's a grey definition as I'm sure around the globe, this 99% is hugely from people who couldn't afford the hardware and specially the games, this is true when reflected with the huge profits Nintendo earned with the Switch, otherwise, their numbers would be much smaller, still, they believe that by killing the emulator, they'll be even more profitable, let's see. Personally, I don't care whether or not they succeed or fail.

I agree, end of the days it’s their IP so therefore it’s Nintendo’s right to do that. The issue is they often burn the people that do support them. I purchased Mario 64 on the Wii. It’s literally locked to that console. There isn’t a method to transfer purchases anymore so when that Wii died that’s it. Game gone. By comparison look at XBOX backward compatibility. XSX is backward compatible with the XBO, most of the 360 library and even OG XBOX. I do care because competition is good. I don’t want Nintendo to go away. Like you said they have had 2 huge successes with the Wii and Switch and 2 failures in the GC and Wii U, they dont ever do loss leading with hardware but the landscape is always changing.

@@thegamelounge659 that's the thing with these companies, why so greedy, why not make their Systems backwards compatible, Look at Sony, PS5 is powerful enough to emulate all their previous PlayStations, I still own my games, I'd love insert my Ps2 game disc on the PS5, but I can't. Same with Nintendo, why not create little hardwares where I can enjoy their old games on brand new systems, I can't, I have to safeguard and keep my old consoles in other for me to enjoy old games, cause I don't want to repay for something I already have.

You get a like for the sole reason you used Cruisin' Blast in the video. My favorite game on the Switch.

That's irrelevant. If emulation is legal, taking money to work on emulation is legal. The issue is they were caught red handed sharing pirated copies before release date of games. Nintendo basically said close your LLC or we will pursue you personally

Agree, but when you make the money you shine a spotlight on what you are doing.

Great video, absolutely agree with everything. My only issue with Yuzu, was that it was emulating a current system, and with that it’s obviously being used for piracy. Why couldn’t they wait until the systems was no longer supported? Either way, this doesn’t really change the emulation landscape.

Thanks, I don’t know what this does for people looking to get into emulation in the future.i certainly think people will think twice or at least be a lot more careful.

Moral of the story is: DON’T EMULATE FOR CONSOLES CURRENTLY BEING SOLD AND SUPPORTED.

Yeah I agree, although you look at non-Nintendo consoles and the time to emulate them is far higher. So getting a start in a PS4/PS5 emulator isn’t a bad thing…
