Současné změny klimatu, zejména globální oteplování, zvýhodňují teplomilné druhy organismů, zatímco chladnomilné druhy ustupují, případně se přesouvají do vyšších nadmořských výšek. Otázkou, jak zareagovaly na oteplování klimatu rostliny opadavých lesů Evropy a Severní Ameriky, se zabýval tým vědců včetně dvou pracovníků Botanického ústavu AV ČR Radima Hédla a Petra Petříka. Výsledky výzkumu byly zveřejněny v časopisu Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA.
The current climatic changes, especially global warming, favor species of thermophiles, while cold-adapted species are retreating or migrating to higher altitudes. How plants of the deciduous forests of Europe and North America have responded to climate warming is a question a team of scientists, including two fellows of the Institute of Botany of the ASCR, v. v. i., Radim Hédl and Petr Petřík, have explored. The research findings were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA.
