Hello, I recently had a Nikon Z6 ll and I noticed that when I put the trigger or flash on it, the real image is no longer shown on the display as the exposure level, those of you who have a z6 II, what do you do in this situation? Do you turn off the trigger/flash to see the exposure? Do you disable the flash from the menu? Which option is more practical?

Hi Jennifer, thanks so much for watching and commenting. I just bought a new Godox setup that I'll be trying out asap and making a video about it if I can get it to work. There's a lot to these triggers and flashes sometimes. The camera, for the most part, is the simple link in the chain, I find. I've used four different trigger brands at this point. They only seen to get more complicated. We'll see. Thanks so much again.

I've used Yognuo flashes before but lately, my Z6 wouldn't catch the light somewhere around 1/400 and faster. and It would still catch and show the flash n HSS over 1/600 I've notice recently and I have no idea why it would do that. Flash fires everytime Up until 1/250 is good and then it's not even showing until 1/600. After 1/600 it's back again. Any ideas please?

I just purchased the z6ii yesterday and ran across this video this morning - just because I saw a Yongnuo trigger. Looking over the comments and using the Yougnuo for years along with Interfit S1. I own YN622n-TX trigger / YN685 Flash with builtin radio and have some YN622N triggers also. I did some testing and seeing the same HSS issue between a certain shutter speed range. With setting of 250FP in menu, I can go thru the shutter settings (250-600) and the flash will fire, but apparently not sync'd. Once I get to 800, you can see flash in the pictures then. Odd issue....which I can confirm. Of course, its hard to find any firmware updates for Yongnuo. The website link I found didn't work for firmware updates. Would be interesting to see if this issue happens with any other systems.....or just Yougnuo.

@@travishood9209 just a quick reply, I setup both my Z6 and Z6ii side by side with the same settings and started shooting at 1/200 - through 1/600 with the Godox x1t and the tt685 speedlight. And the flash fired consistently throughout. I used both manual and ttl with success. The one weird thing I experienced was at 1/200, the exposure was very overexposed and as soon as I moved to 1/250 the exposure was much more what I expected all throughout the rest of the shutter test range. I used to have a lot of connection issues with my yougnuo triggers so I'm hoping the x1t will be more consistent. So far it is.

@@halfphild no worries, not your fault and I appreciate the video and all the info. I’m thinking it may just be an SB-700 thing? I had both the transmitter and my flash in TTL mode. My flash is definitely receiving some input as the receiver lights up but the screen on my SB-700 advises me to put it in manual mode. I tried many combinations of TTL and manual mode and nothing has worked so far. It’s all good, I’ll be looking into a Nikon based solution. This was my first time buying a third party product and it reminded me of why I usually don’t do that. 😃

Hey I'm pretty sure I forgot to mention the transeivers also have ttl and manual modes! If you hold the power buttons on them, it should change from green to orange color. Ok my setup was manual on the channel mode and ttl on the flash. I'll check to see what my remote is on (ttl or manual). Thanks for being so patient. you said in the other video on z 6 flash that you had 2 s b 600's so why use the radio triggers?, one of the Sb-600's can go straight on the hot shoe, and you can use the CL-S system, ie: use the REMOTE and MASTER flash modes, ie use it wireless optical trigger, or just buy the w r-r 10 and the s b 5000 flash and have full features available, in o.e.m. radio triggering !, and this flash is compatible with the old cl-s system too, so you can keep the s b 600's and use all 3 together!
@halfphild

Hey Andy I use the triggers so that I have the option of having two external flashes placed anywhere I want. I also don't like the inevitable master flash disrupting the lighting. You're right though about those other options. I've never tried the wr-10 and the sb-5000. I just haven't made the extra investment into a third light yet, haven't felt the need to. All good though. Thanks so much for the info! Cheers!

Hey guys, the screen will not react in flash mode until the camera recognizes some sort of flash or trigger turned on and connected to the hot shoe of the camera. 1. Enable flash mode. 2. Connect your flash via hotshoe OR connect your trigger via hotshoe and turn them on. 3. Disable silent mode, (if it's enabled). 4. Set shooting mode to single shot, (not burst mode). That should be it. I might be forgetting something. I hope this helps!

@@halfphild great video and thank you so much. I am new to this so I’ve been reading and watching a ton of videos to get smarter.
