I actually prefer the green colour of non SE version - it really pops. In Canada the standard RS is available in a metallic blue that I think is gorgeous. I like the upgraded features of the SE but I'm not wild about the gold coloured wheels and forks so I'd probably get a standard RS and put an Ohlin's shock on it but this would have to be a 3rd or 4th bike at the rate I'm going.

I bought a 50th Anniversary model last year. Love the red ball paint and gold wheels. I just don’t understand why Kawasaki used retro side badges but didn’t bother to put matching tank badges on the bike. I just got my set in the mail and was looking for videos of the installation. Really cool my bike has the retro 900 dual overhead cam side badges like the original.

Speaking of paint correction - with mine, it's even more pronounced than the new black Mustang GT I bought in '18. Obviously, all of the damage happens at the dealerships, and it's so unnecessary. Car had about 45 miles when I bought it, and the bike had about 3 mi on it. They really need to develop a dealer system to prevent microswirls, and I would go so far as to say, up to 'scratches' on the tank, my windshield, etc. I may start from scratch and just put a tinted windshield on it. Dual-action buffer and off to the races! Actually, it's very relaxing and gratifying to polish finishes to perfection.

Hi Jay, I bought the weatherproof charging mount, vibration damper and extension lead from quad lock. Mounted the cradle to the bars and ran the wire down the left hand side of the tank and plugged it in to the rear aux power socket behind the ECU. I took the left side panel, and left front side panel (the small black one at the front) off for better access. The front small black panel has one of this push clips facing forward, you press the centre in to release it, then push the pin back through, reinsert the pin, then push the centre flush with the clip to fix it back into place. I hope that makes sense.

Hey bro, I noted a lot of micro scratches on my se what do you mean by paint correcting? Is it something I can do myself?
@davesbikes
Жыл бұрын
Hi Ross, paint correction is essentially making sure the surface is very clean by either just a was, or decontamination with a clay bar and lubricant if required, then remove all traces of cleaning agent with a diluted isopropyl alcohol mix. You then, depending on the severity of scratches, use a 500 grit or 1000 grit polish, with a medium polishing pad on a random orbital polishing machine, then when the scratches are corrected, use a 2400 grit polish with a soft polish pad on the machine to get a nice depth and shine to the paint. I then clean again with the ISO mix and apply a couple of coats of a good quality ceramic coat paint sealant. I found the paint on the RS very soft so it does scratch easily, I also applied some clear stone guard to further protect against scratches, the over coated that with the ceramic coating. I didn’t film that as it was new to me and I made a bit of a dogs breakfast of it.
@rosscollier3992

@@davesbikes thanks for the response mate. Yeah the paint seems very thin and I can see loads of micro swirls, thought it might have been the dealer but looks like it’s from factory. Might leave the above to a professional though as i know I’ll make a dogs breakfast of it! Thanks and safe riding
