Hell yeah Johnny 👏 👏 sober here since October 2021, best decision i made as it was not looking good for me for awhile. It may be an up and down road that takes a few tries but we believe in you bro. If you mess up dont beat yourself up. Just keep picking yourself back up. You and the guys have accomplished big things dude, and have inspired and touched many peoples lives. and the fact you decided to put the bottle down in itself is already a huge step. You got this brotha 👊

I am trying hard so i dnt end up back in rehab...i kicked the meth 11 years ago, then got hooked on opioids after a bad car wreck...that was a 10 year habit that i never thought i would get over...been off the pain pills for 3 years now, the beers every day is a hard thing to change....changing muscle memory from grabbing a beer around noon every day is going to be a challenge, ive been making it til 5pm the past 2 days...i just had my 1st beer today and watched this video. Try again tomorrow and hopefully i can make it one day to start this new journey of truely being completely sober and doing something differently one minute at a time. Thanks Zach You do inspire much more than just being a guitar God! Sober Life.

Gentlemen, I loved this!! I'm in the same boat, getting old is CRAZY! IT HAPPENS SO FAST!! Deciding to quit anything is such a profound thing. For me, it's finding something to replace whatever vice I'm getting rid of!! It's badass hearing two titans that I've grown up with having this conversation!!

I don’t drink because I don’t want to. I quit going around people that I’d have to drink to be around and it fixed itself. I was never addicted to drinking, I was trying to escape taking responsibility for choosing to stay in a loveless relationship. Last time I drank was celebrating by myself for breaking the cycle.

Zakk always jokes funny how this guy thinks hes serious about potty training and fisting his prostate. lol Quit drinking booze like 4 years ago. I have had some drinks a few times in that time frame and glad to say those few drinks never sent me back on a bender. Now it's a choice vs a need but i rarely think about it and can be around people drinking and be fine not doing it. I used to drink a lot of Vodka daily.

Avenged Sevenfold are an arena-level, festival-headlining rock and metal band, and Johnny's their bassist and a backing vocalist since 2002. They're one of the most prominent of the past two decades, having become internationally successful in 2006 during the tail-end of MTV's music-centric pre-reality TV era. They have eight very musically diverse studio albums with a lot of technical performances. If you're curious enough, check out their music videos, and listen to their albums, starting with Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen if you like heavy music, City of Evil if you like over the top music with a lot of guitar harmonies, drum fills, and symphonic elements, Avenged Sevenfold if you like highly experimental music, Nightmare and Hail to the King if you like rock and metal in general, or The Stage and Life Is but a Dream... , their most recent albums, if you like progressive rock and avant-garde music which is difficult to classify as any one subgenre. They have everything for everyone, and they're very ambitious and consistent, awesome guys, too. M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance, Johnny Christ, and Brooks Wackerman are who they're known as. The Rev is their original drummer, a backing vocalist, and pianist. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater and Arin Ilejay of Islander had been their drummer before Brooks, who'd been in Bad Religion, Tenacious D, and a few other bands who you should check out if you like punk rock and crossover thrash metal. You'll be very glad to know A7X.

I won a contest a long time back and got to go on Zakk's bus and hang, and we probably killed 20 beers each while I was sitting there. I stumbled off that bus glowing from meeting one of my heroes- that was one night for me. For Zakk, that was EVERY night. He was living that berserker mentality and as badass as it was, if he kept rolling like that..........well it's rock n roll- right? Glad he cut it off when he had to and is healthy today, even though I will always have a fondness for the old stoned & drunk days!!!
