He is just not a tapper.. one reason he isnt able to reproduce some of the great Chinese Democracy song solos... didnt listen to those from a recent tour but he really more or less destroyed some of the solos when the reunion tour started...even those that were more like his blues like play style..he tried to add too much and it didnt fit anymore..... but it is what it is he still is a great guitar player..

Honestly ... It was TOO scientific. There was nothing unique or interesting about his version, and it was so clean that it felt robotic. I enjoy Buckethead at times, but his biggest issue by far is that, for all his external craziness, his playing always feels clinical and a bit empty.

@@brandoggthat's just not true. In the post-tapping part he does a chromatic descent that can be clearly heard. In the album version this is made with a whammy bar, so it's different.

I do think he Buckethead was the best. But Slash, on principle, doesn't use tapping- he could, but he won't. and I find his interpretation of this solo the most interesting.

Slash once again proving he can't play anything but his own stuff. All the other versions are based around the studio version, and they all did well. But Randy played parts of it differently live, and I much prefer the way he played it live.

Interesting. None of them got it 100% down. Buckethead almost had it, but didn’t nail the legato run at the end. Ron also close but didn’t nail the finish.

I think they all wanted their own signature to be on it somwhere rather that simply reproduce the solo from the record. But Slash being too proud to do any tapping was very weak.

Zak isn't as good as the guitarists he's always compared to... definitely overrated. He's still very good, but not nearly as good as Randy, Buckethead, Jake, etc.... (Randy - original) 1.Buckethead 2. Jake E Lee 3. Bumblehead 4. Zak ...and I have no idea what the hell Slash was doing, I think he was high. That is well below his potential; even I could play the solo better than that.

(Tie)Buckethead more notes and different scale used in speed runs, (i think his version is more like the mtv live version of rhodes) 3.bumble foot he made 2 sloppy notes mistake twice (he jump also in his run in the last part) 4. Slash impro, but yeah if you want to improvise make sure its tasty but its not, he is just noodling.

Each brought their own style. When I listen to Bumblefoot play I want to hear Bumblefoot not Randy. To me. they were all great because they took Randy's solo and brought their own style playing. all but slash who didn't make the effort and just babbled some random notes on the scale.

Zakk killed it, I’ve heard him play it live he does very well. Buckethead is a beast of course. Could have been a technological issue or something else but the first measure sounded off, maybe tech though, I could be very wrong. Still amazing though. Slash has a different approach to guitar compared to any of these guys. Also could have got nervous or didn’t practice enough, it does happen. Probably changed his strings right before going on, could explain the tuning issue. Never heard of Bumblefoot but I really liked his rendition.
