A Zanzibar diving Video, shot at Mnemba Island, in the north-East of Zanzibar. Shot with a Gopro Hero 3+, with a Backscatter macromate lens and a Sola 2000 light.
Mnemba Atoll is a beautiful reef located on the north-east coast of Ungunja, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipielago. The coral is healthy, and there is a huge diversity of marine life, from dolphins and turtles to beautiful invertebrates, including beautiful specimes of Spanish dancers!
The colors of the lagoon, inhabited by a resident pod of dolphins, as well as the traditional fishermen in their wooden boats, all add to the charm of the place and make Mnemba Island the best dive site in East Africa. Right next to it, in Matemwe, you will easily find some great dive resorts and romantic getaways perfect for a Zanzibar honeymoon!
In this video I focused on the nudibranchs and flatworms. There is a huge variety of nudibranchs here in Zanzibar, and I keep finding new ones after 2 years of diving here everyday! Their beautiful colors and shapes make each of one unique. Please find below some of the species of nudibranch in the video:
Chromodoris africana
Goniobranchus Geminus
Chromodoris Boucheti
Halgerda Tessellata
Nembrotha aurea
Hexabranchus Sanguineus
Goniobranchus geometricus
Chelinodura punctata
Pseudoceros cf. dimidiatus
The video also features some time-lapse of the trip from Matemwe to Mnemba, through the village of Muyuni in the morning (while at low tide) and the trip back to Matemwe in the afternoon, through the lagoon.
