The instruments kind of ruin the Slavic vibe! It sounds way too western to be a Slavic sounding song! Or too modern maybe! It’s respectable but wish they followed old Slavic sounds to fit it better like the band Ivana Kupala !!

It is not important what you wish they followed. Important thing is to be opened to all Slavic folk styles and do not concertante to one preferred vibe. Slavs do differ, folk Slavic vibes also differ. Most of Zazula's songs shared on KZitem are of Eastern Slavs origins - they are from today's Ukraine or Belarus territory. Some of them are from former eastern parts of Poland (today in Ukraine or Belarus). This particular song has the Polish Highlanders origin and has been sung in the language of those Polish Highlanders. It is totally different to the folk styles of Eastern Poland (or a Eastern Slavs folk styles in general). It is very similar to the folk style of Slovakia and has more in common with the Hungarian folk style than other folk styles of Poland. You should know that Western Slavs have totally different folk styles in comparison to Eastern Slavs and some of them are closer to Southern Slavs style (from former Yugoslavia, for example). Even in one Polish region (for example Mazovia) you can find several different folk styles. By the way, most of those songs, that are sung by Zazula, have religious background focused on Christianity (orthodox or catholic) and have nothing in common with the pagan Slavic folk style of Kupala. These religious Christian songs are also our roots, are foundings of our culture. Apart of it, our folk culture in this part of Europe is also based on Jewish as well as Gypsies folk styles. And of course, sometimes those styles percolate each other, although they have different sources. But you have to remember, that in fact they are separated streams and rivers. And even then you prefer water in one of them, you shouldn't forget and underestimate the others. Because each of those streams and rivers created our lives and our culture.
