The section where you say the "third way to attack... is to activate the swordfighter mode" was repeated twice in a row. Good review though, although you might want to be careful calling the video "first impressions" but then talking about the end of the story (even with spoiler warnings).

Thanks, sadly it was too late when I realized that little editing mistake. As for the title: I named it "First Impressions" because I don't believe a single casual playthrough would be fair to judge the game in a way which feels... "definitive" for lack of better terms.

I thought the same. I am not saying this is a bad game, but it does not feel like a Legend of Zelda game to me and unfortunately I had to refund it because the combat just felt too boring.

0:45 I'm sorry, but you really think the overworld is dense, and the pacing is fast? Like, no offense here, I'm just replying conversationally, in a similar tone to your video, but one of the game's glaring flaws to me was the lack of overworld density and the slow pacing. Right after you leave Suthorn Ruins, you're sent to Hyrule Field, which is probably one of the least-dense overworld areas in any 2D Zelda. There is very little of note there; only basic enemies you can make short work of, the occasional Moblin camp with fairly useless rewards, and so much trees and grass. The rest of the game isn't much better; the entire east half of Gerudo Desert is completely barren (which, sure, that's understandable because that's what deserts are, but it could have been better), the entirety of the ocean in Jabul Waters has little to report on... I really can't understand how the world is viewed as dense after you have control of where you go? Hyrule Field could have been brimming with caves, villages, and so many more unique ideas, and it has almost nothing. And then the pacing, which I also don't really think is too fast, particularly in the combat. Pulling up the poorly-designed Echo menu and finding one, spawning it, using the finnicky and inconvenient targeting system to alert your Echo, and then waiting for it to actually attack, which takes a while in itself, is a lot slower than, say, combat in BotW, where you can immediately jump into a situation ready to fight. Even Link's Awakening, which isn't particularly known for its lightning-fast combat, is still much faster, as you can fight yourself and don't have to make an unintelligent Echo so it for you. The game feels pretty slow to me, so I'm not sure what you mean here. I don't mean to be hostile here, I'm just quite confused what you mean by these points. Sorry if I'm fairly long-winded, I just have a lot to say!

Fair enough. The monodimensional echo menu is a big flaw I actually noticed but forgot to mention in the video, if Nintendo wants to keep similar systems they should really take note of it, because that's something they very well should have learned from ToTK. As for the overworld, I think it had enough content for its size. Yeah maybe there are not so many things out in the open, but there are lots of little mini-level/caves to discover, which roughly, at least in my feeling, is inbetween ALttP and ALBW in terms of density which is nice for me. Perhaps my judgment is viced by the lack of density in modern games, but that's how it felt to me, I'd not argue the point if you felt it was not, perhaps you explored more than me, as I generally just scouted each area once and moved along, and never felt like I was traversing through bare empty space, yet another reason this is a first impression video and not a proper review, as I'd be much more precise in my calculations in the second case. As for the combat, I mentioned it was the biggest issue of the game and too slow for a 2D Zelda game, so I'm not sure why you'd think the opposite. Maybe for you it felt reeeeeeeally slow? It was noticeable for me but not as much as, many other games (including BOTW, which felt much slower for me despite having access to the melee combat, you can jump in the action fast sure, but unless you are in the endgame, you are going to wait for the moblin to stand up over and over again). Maybe it helped I didn't get too much creative with my echoes, having what I needed always at the top of the list and, as I mentioned, I made as much use as possible of the swordfighter mode. I guess that just shows how different styles of playing a game can lead to much different outcomes. But combat aside, what I meant for "pacing" is the general gameplay loop: this is an advantage of being a 2D Zelda. If you are familiar with the pre-BOTW 3D games, you'd notice all the "fluff" you get with 3D slows the game down a lot. Traversing a dungeon in, say, Oracle of Ages, which has some of the most daunting ones in the series, takes much less than in OoT despite those having very few rooms. Same goes for the exploration or pieces of content you play within dungeons. And it's not about the quantity of content, but how much "diluted" is the time that takes to go through it, or how much time the game takes between them. To make a similar comparison, it would be like comparing the pace in Super Metroid with the one in Metroid Prime. Due to the nature of 3D, Prime takes a lot more time to do, mostly the same things Super does. And I'm not saying it's necessarily bad, there are good reasons you'd want it to be that way, but I just like the faster pace more, and thus 2D Zeldas over 3D, hope I clarified that point.

@@bython6339 you have good points there! I didn't end up having time to watch the whole thing so my response probably wasn't the best quality. Anyway yeah, cool video!
