Beautiful area for flying. No less than 1000 good looking places to land if something when wrong.

The audio from the radio recorded in this video is MUCH clearer! That throttle is tremendous! I imagine flying a precision approach is a lot easier now, because you can control the power more precisely and in smaller increments. Thank you for keeping us informed.

Your description of flying low and slow was exactly why I loved flying as an aeroscout observer in the OH-58. Of course we sometimes did get a little lower than you. Instead of looking at housing developments we were looking at ant hills.

Love the detail you provide about your upgrades and mods. I use a McFarlane "Vernier Assist" throttle which while it does not have a lock button (you can adjust the friction to hold it at any position), it does have the fine vernier adjustment for precisely setting rpm's. I'd never go back to a conventional twist-to-lock throttle! Keep those vids coming!
@KitplaneEnthusiast

John does yours have the locking ring at the base? That’s what my old one had and there was no way to adjust enough friction to hold it in place with out the throttle spring creating it towards full throttle.

@@KitplaneEnthusiast love the McFarlane I added to the S-19...huge upgrade...twist or don't and the friction works well enough to stay put and still move with my fairly strong Jabiru/Bing throttle spring.👍 Not a cheapo item, but since we use the throttle so much, the feel and usability wayyyyyy offsets the cost and fabrication that may be required...😉
@n206ja

@@KitplaneEnthusiast No, it has a knurled ring at the base, but it does not ever fully lock the throttle - it just progressively adds friction, but you can still move the throttle even at max adjustment. I have a tension spring on my linkage, too, but have no problem with throttle creep. You simply position the throttle where you want it and it stays, then you can twist the knob to fine-tune the rpm's. On the other hand, if your throttle tension spring is really stout, I really don't know if it would overcome the adjustable friction when it is at max friction.

Wow, just stumbled onto your channel, as recommended by youtube while watching the Zenith channel. Nice plane, nice paint scheme! I like the description details of the work you are doing to fit parts...... Low and behold I here the radio chatter mention Owosso.... wait, that means you are very close by me. I spend half the yr near Howell, and right under the pattern for Maple Grove E66 and I rent at OZW. Ha! Ok nice coincidence. Subscribed!

Another great video! Thank you! Regarding the new vernier throttle cable, using this type of throttle eliminates the possibility of having 2 throttles, 1 for each seat, unless you find a way to release the push button friction lock on the throttle not in use. I know you only have a left side throttle installed, but any ideas? I was thinking maybe a removable clip that would slip on the throttle base and depress the button friction lock? Any thoughts?

I would like to know whereyou obtained the throttle end (screws on end of the cable). I have been looking for one of those but cant find one. I dont know what it is called in order to search for it. Searcging "cable ends" gets me nowhere.

The only thing I don't like about the push button throttles is you don't know where the fine adjustment is. You may push in the throttle and it's not actually at 100%. I never got used to that and I flew with it with a bonanza for years.

Instead of your finger use a clay bar like the ones for cleaning surfaces or similar type of material works wonders just cut off the face/ used area when full of shavings and heads and you're ready to use again and also less chances of getting jagged metal splitters.

The new throttle cable functions exactly like a constant speed prop pitch adjustment cable. Is that what you used, or is it an actual throttle cable with the push button lock and fine rotating adjustment?
