All your doing is feeding the horse your not teaching anything

That observation might seem accurate unless you look really closely at what's happening. This young lady was completely wild when she was gathered as a baby. She was around people but never had a chance to understand what they wanted or what she was supposed to do. That made her anxious and confused. Then she had a very traumatic experience with a human. She was handled unfairly/abusively by a farrier. The purpose of the work I'm doing using food is to create new happier and healthier associations with humans, being handled, and lifting her feet. My goal is to build her confidence. I do that two ways, giving her the freedom to leave and not overwhelming her with more than she can handle. Compared to our first session when I couldn't touch her and she kept moving away, she's made wonderful progress. This is definitely not a traditional approach to training. This approach is collaborative and creates the opportunity for the horse to offer more challenging behaviors as they become more comfortable doing so. The takeaway is that this pony is relaxed and willing throughout the session, even when I introduce something new or challenging. I hope you'll visit my website to learn more. Thanks for commenting!

@@rhondaskiles5740 that can work with some horses, but the research shows that food works better. Petting also doesn't work on a horse you can't touch or doesn't enjoy being touched.
