I know this video is old but I recently bought a ZeroWater pitcher and am impressed. One thing to note, a TDS meter can go out of calibration in as little as 6 months of use. And the included TDS meter that comes with a ZeroWater pitcher can't be calibrated. So if you want an accurate reading you'll want to buy one that lets you calibrate it.

Caution -- Zero water gets pretty pricey if you live in Phoenix. The filter only lasted two weeks before having to replace it. Unfortunately gave away my Brita because so excited about the zero water idea, but paying $30/month on water is a bit much. I guess it could get as cheap as $24 if on the mail order, but still pretty expensive. On the positive side, water tasted good till the filer went bad. And to the person a couple comments down, that horrible taste tells you the filter is bad. Called the manufacturer when it happened to me and that's when I found out that the filter in Phoenix doesn't last that long.

zero filter uses ciation plastic beads in the filter to attract and hold dissolved solids in the water. just like a whole house water softener filter. the zero water filter can be reused by soaking in a 100% brine solution for a day and rinsing by submersion with a gallon of distilled water. i use a gallon zip lock bag for both. by ion exchange the contaminants are stripped from the plastic beads and held in brine suspension untill rinsed away thus enabling the plastic bead surface to work again. so you only need 2 filters. one soaking in brine water, one in the pitcher.

I bought a zerowater pitcher. I did not store the pitcher/filter in the refrigerator. The filter was producing a lot of mold. I am allergic to mold. I wish the maker had instructed me to keep my pitcher refrigerated. The mold almost killed me

Well thank you. I had my pitcher for a year and just decided to use it today I'll be sure to put it in there. I'm also allergic to mold.

So Brita removes only half the parts per million and zero removes all. But in the end will that extra parts per million that Britta leaves be harmful to you ?

This is actually off the Zero Water website: When the filtered water tastes acidic or fishy the filter has reached the point of exhaustion and must be replaced.

When the TDS reading is 0.06 you are supposed to change the filter, that is when the filter may begin to smell and the water change taste.

Wow, as good as a distiller, how many gallons can it process. I distill water but not having to use electricity to make pure water would be amazing.

it really doesnt matter, you only need 2 you only need 2 filters, one in the container and one in the brine solution. filters work just like a water softener. brine water releases the contaminants collected on the surface of the plastic beads and holds it in suspension. rinse with one gallon distilled water before use to remove the salty taste. saves you money!

My water measures 40 to 90 ppm from the tap. After using the zero water filter it measures 000. I’ve had the filter two months and still measuring 000, I use at least 1 to 3 gallons of water daily.

That's very interesting that you poured contaminated food water of 530 parts per million (PPM) and Zero Water filler filtered it down to 5 parts per million (PPM). The water also taste like clean regular water. The other filter couldn't do that.

You poured clean water back into that contaminated glass. I said it to myself before you even tested it, "that'll be two or three on the meter". And you need to rinse off the tester in distilled water before putting it back into the clean water to test

Purchase the zero water in multipacks. It drastically reduces the costs. I also purchase my pitcher's second-hand to recycle. The pitcher is dishwasher safe. I wash the filter every month.

You can't compare dye contamination to particulate or other chemical contamination. Dye becomes solution, whereas other contaminants have mass and can be physically filtered.

Tip- To save money & prolong the life of your filters. Use a good, inexpensive, long lasting water filter & pitcher like Waterdrop first. Then pour that 1st filtered water into your Zero Water pitcher. Waterdrop, the one I use, does the initial heavy work. Imo Britta & some others are rubbish. Epic Water or Zero Water filters then refine that water, taking out nasties like fluoride etc without getting clogged up nearly as fast.

I was a water filtration technician for a couple years, having 0 TDS levels is actually bad, it strips all the minerals in the water, for perspective all water bottles will have TDS levels of around 13-40 depending on brand. The more minerals the more better tasting the water. Also TDS does not measure chlorine, mercury, etc etc. I’d go with Brita lol
