Thank you for going over the side effects for muscles and stomach issues to look out for when using this medication. I’m scared to try it because I had a bad reaction from statins.

Zetia combined with low dose Crestor and a low carb diet improved my lipid panel significantly.

I already have fatty liver disease and my doctor is trying to force me to take this medication. She doesn't even want to wait to see if diet and exercise will help. I'm terrified.

Nurse for 43 years. I was on Crestor for eight months and stopped due to symptoms of severe polymyositis. (Prednisone helped for three weeks while I was on it, symptoms returned. I have a referral to rheumatologist.) How is Zetia alone for side effects? What is the NNT? Could it make my polymyositis sx worse? Thank you!!

Could you please elaborate on the causation between this med and rhabdo? The MOA is its ability to prevent lipids from crossing the gut/blood barrier thereby allowing the pt to essentially “poop” out excess lipids. Statins may cause rhabdo as they are specifically utilized in the hepatic system and will end up muscle cells. Thank you

Could Ezetimibe have elevated my liver enzymes? They were in normal range prior ALP. 140 AST. 69 ALT.124

Hello Qatariina, ezetimibe may increase liver transaminase enzymes especially when taken with a statin medication. According to studies, the liver enzymes will return back to normal after a couple of weeks to months. I would recommend you check with your physician after 6weeks for a retest to confirm there is no underlying liver condition. Thanks, please don’t forget to support us by subscribing to our channel.

Took med for a month. Had severe (almost tetanus level) muscle spasms, loss of hair, daily+ breakage of nails, skin issues, anemia, scurvy symptoms (ended up with a gum graft & demineralized teeth & bone... signs/symptoms of vitamin/minerals not being absorbed. Quit after a month, but still not absorb well...take Bioprene with vitamins/minerals to absorb some. Over a year and still ongoing effects, but less severe.
