The SF was already outdated during destiny as it was MADE during the events of SEED as a straight copy of the Freedom but was upgraded to test the super Dragoon system which is an upgraded version of the Providence's Dragoon system. So basically it was a 2-3 year old unit during the events of Destiny.

Rising freedom is a new suit, a fresh chassis and is a prototype for mass production
@GrandAdmiralBatuKhan
Ай бұрын
The Rising Freedom is not the same unit as the Strike Freedom. The Rising Freedom is a completely new machine based on the data from the Strike Freedom. The original Strike Freedom, on the other hand, got heavily damaged by a Black Knight Rud-ro.A after it was hijacked by an unknown terrorist, before it was returned to Orb, and upgraded into the Strike Freedom Type II.
Looking back at Kira's Mobile Suit piloting history, his performance peaked at using the Freedom prior to Shinn becoming serious to try to legit kill him in Destiny and gradually became far more predictable once he obtained the Strike Freedom. Strike: Started off as unexperienced compared to Rau's team (who dogteamed up on him, requiring Mu to also come out and assist when it was clear that Kira couldn't handle the pressure. Ended up being skilled enough to match Athrun (who at the time was a monster in close-range fights and his MS had some strong beam weaponry for distance shooting) and could've won had Athrun (who would've lost if not died first in that same episode) not used the Aegis' mobile form to immobilize the Strike long enough for him to self-detonate it as a last chance ditch, cheap way to win the battle (Athrun regretted this in the end and it's a mental scar on his piloting record.) Freedom: In SEED, his skill performance took a dive unless he was fighting the Druggies (Forbidden in general shut the Freedom's firepower down) or Rau. I find it nice how the Forbidden kind of foresaw the moment where anything that could reflect/deflect beam shots or just simply be immune to ranged beam weaponry to be the starting point of Kira's 'Freedom days' downfall. In Destiny, Kira used the Freedom's beam sabers whenever he could and whenever he was able to, as opposed to SEED where he was just aimbot beam spammer until Rau finally pissed him off. A good sign that Kira was still improving slowly (but not fast enough). Strike Freedom: Kira's skill only really shined against Rey/Legend and kind of against Shinn/Destiny. It was a semi-mirror match between him and Rey (Super DRAGOON and beam spam vs. DRAGOON and beam spam) so it was more of skill and reaction time on top of high spatial awareness. Against Shinn, he took advantage of Shinn's still careless fighting style to minimize his MS's power consumption and (unknowingly) make Shinn waste more of the Destiny's power reserves (which was a huge flaw in the OG Destiny Gundam.) Unfortunately for Kira, unlike Athrun and Shinn, Kira's skills might not have dulled like their own but his combat style never changed upon getting the Strike Freedom to where it's one of his biggest weaknesses in Seed Freedom. This is what makes him struggle when you compare Athrun when they both used the Strike Freedom Type-II. Kira still relies heavily on the MS's ranged firepower and doesn't use the beam sabers enough to ward off close-range persistent foes like Shura and when he finally does, it's kind of too late. Athrun however mixes close-range with long-range while remaining aggressive, which is much safer as it gives the opposition much less time to adjust on the fly. Though this is what lets Shura know that it's actually Athrun in the SFII, not Kira. You can notice that Athrun's fighting style, while using the SFII, actually forces Shura to defend for himself a lot more, whereas with Kira, Shura only needs to close the distance for Kira to be in danger.

I would not say SF downgrade Kira combat skill, it's more like tailor made to his combat style, you need to remember using close range weapon will actually be a disadvantage for Kira as his combat style involves disarming enemies, close range weapon would consume time to get close to the enemy and that would waste more time especially when you are out numbered. Kira needs precise surgery tool in the form of full burst mode to quickly disarm as many enemy as possible and beam saber just wont do. Proud Defender was his way to overcome this weakness, AoE emp attack a more precise surgery tool to disarm and absolute defense + a katana to dispatch elites, I didn't count disruptor cuz that thing has safety lock from lacus and only used for dispatching weapon of mass destruction like requiem or space fort

@@cruzwaldfelt7357 tl:dr unless you feel like it to see my points. I should point out that when Kira fails to defeat opponents using beam sabers or generally struggles to use them, is when certain factors come into play. Either being at a disadvantage or simply not bothering to use them. Rau: Providence vs. Freedom. Rau was OG beam spamming Kira and Kira was doing his best to NOT get shot down by superior firepower. Freedom might be faster but the Providence has superior firepower in the end. The Freedom took a hell of a beating when Kira decided to stop shooting beams and use the beam sabers. Case point: Beam sabers were a last resort even if it was a risky decision on Kira's part. Shinn: Impulse vs. Freedom (final match). Kira actually used the beam sabers more than anything else. Even with Rey's help in making a plan to use Kira's 'no kill' rule against him, had the Impulse be a singular MS with no detachable/replaceable parts, Kira would've killed Shinn in that episode even with Shinn giving Kira a harsh run for his money. The Impulse being able to be separated and replace parts threw Kira off-guard just as much as the Archangel (which had Cagalli on-bard) being under attack did. Case point: Shinn with Rey's help outsmarted Kira this time around even with Kira going for the disarming and intent to kill. Shinn: Destiny vs. Strike Freedom (initial) and Destiny/Legend vs. Strike Freedom (rematch) while in Orb (so no Super DRAGOONs.) Kira rushed Shinn using the SF's beam sabers and Shinn fell back to avoid being disabled/killed. The big instance where Kira could've killed Shinn twice was when he both blocked and disarmed the Destiny's Arondight. He could've fired the SF's beam cannon instead of the railguns upon blocking the attack and ended Shinn's life there (though the Destiny being nuclear based as well would make this bittersweet.) The second is that he could've easily disarmed the Destiny right away after firing the railguns before Shinn recovered completely. After disarming the Destiny of its sword though, Shinn activated SEED Mode and simply rushed Kira, giving Kira no time to use the beam sabers at all as he was struggling to not get overwhelmed. When Shinn returns with Rey, using the beam sabers would be desperate. Kira focuses on one, the other retaliates against him as a result. If Rey hadn't driven Kira off, Kira would've shot down (or killed) Shinn in that episode. After Athrun arrives, Kira goes back to shooting and using beam sabers against Rey. Case point here: Without Rey, Kira could've easily removed Shinn from the picture with beam sabers but opted not to when he had the chance. With Rey, Kira simply couldn't use beam sabers against either due to being under pressure. When Athrun fought Shinn and Kira was against Rey, Rey was matching Kira blow-for-blow in that battle. Shura: Shi-ve.A vs. Rising Freedom. Not possible in either scenario. Kira was recovering from being mind raped, the RF was already heavily damaged, Shura was mind reading him and the Shi-ve.A is just overall superior to the RF in close-range specs. Notably, Kira was using his beam sabers during the final moments here. In this case, Kira was simply outmatched regardless. Ranged beam attacks wouldn't work anyways and Shura mind reading him rendered any attempts at close-range null even if Kira wasn't ambushed and his MS wasn't damaged beforehand. Shura: Shi-ve.A vs Strike Freedom Type-II. If you looked at how Athrun performed, as long as it's a space battle, using both the beam sabers and all of the SFII's ranged weaponry while being aggressive and careful at the same time is the best way to keep someone like Shura at bay and even put him on the defense. Unfortunately, Kira stuck to using ranged weapons against Shura and that was causing him to struggle more than Athrun. While Kira had less space to move around in compared to Athrun, Kira was simply not aggressive enough nor using all of the SFII's weapons to their full potential from the start to keep Shura away from him. For all the firepower the SFII has, even that has to deal with firing intervals and very mobile targets. Shura took advantage of this completely. Things get worse since... Orphee/Ingrid: Cal-re.A vs. Strike Freedom Type-II. Once Orphee/Ingrid arrive, it's clear that Kira can't win at all without the Proud Defender. While Kira could possibly land a few hits against Shura if he tried to mix up his fighting style like how Athrun did (Shi-ve.A has less options for ranged attacks so it has to rely on Femtec armor, Shura's piloting skills and mind reading to handle the SFII), the Cal-re.A is straight-up superior to the SFII in every way and only held back because Orphee can't use the thing properly by himself so he needed Ingrid or would need another co-pilot to use the other functions. No need to explain the weapon advantage Orphee/Ingrid have because it's obvious. Case point: The SFII's beam sabers won't work unless Kira has a way to defend himself at the same time. Not possible until his MS went from SFII to MSF. Funny note: Of the three upgraded MSs the main heroes use (SFII, IJII, Destiny II), the latter two are the best against Shura's Shi-ve.A. However, only Athrun has the piloting skills and experience to fight someone who trained to 'surpass' him. In terms of skill, Athrun's superior but Shura balances it with mind reading until Athrun shuts that plan off. Kira's far too passive-aggressive despite being just as skilled as Athrun in MS capability and Shinn's overly aggressive and doesn't really think at all (if at all) which makes Shinn struggle against enemy aces who rely on actual skill not on mind reading (though Shinn's piloting skills are far sharper in Seed Freedom.) As the Shi-ve.A is an evil rip-off of the IJII, the IJII can stalemate it (skill vs. mind reading) until Athrun took that risky maneuver to make Shura drop his guard. If Shinn stuck to his fighting style but doesn't take any unnecessary moves, he'd be able to keep up or maybe win. The Destiny II is by far the fasted upgraded MS that Orb has made, Shura would have a rough time trying to land a hit without being killed if Shinn was careful. When Shinn pushed it into 'overdrive', he was able to kill three BK grunts with different attacks to where their units all exploded at apparently the same time. Shinn learned a lot from fighting both against and alongside Kira and Athrun.

@@bitrel07 hmm I see your point but heres my takes on those battle you mentioned Rau vs Kira : the reason Kira abandoned long range combat is simply because it's a disadvnatage against rau beam spams, the only sure way to win is close range cuz providance only has one beams sword and has very limited range of movement so it's only obvious for him tp choose close range combat. Impulse vs freedom: you need to remember in this battle it is not one vs one battle, this was a defensive battle of Kira protecting archangel from minerva fleet onslaught, he not only have to vend of shin but also shooting down enemy on archangel tail. Tho I know it's really a bad move of him to keep sticking to no kill policy in that situation, but it didn't diminish his piloting capability, and if I think about it Freedom at that time was an out dateed I terms of tecnology aside from the nuclear reactor, and the only reason shin could win was because shin using kamikaze attack to Destroy freedom long range weapon and mobility. Freedom vs Saviour : this battle showcase Kira close range sword skill not just a simple slashing but also backhand tecnique butchering saviour in a flash, this battle to didn't mean Kira is better at close combat than Athurn as he was total not into it. Destiny vs Strike Freedom: in orb defense battle Kira cannot use dragoon but still manage to deal with Destiny if not for rei butting in, in this battle Kira showcase his close range capabilities to the max, as you can see how he deals with Destiny with that sword catching move followed by point blank rail gun and kicking Destiny when he tried to use the palm beam attack forcing shinn to retreat and resupply. As for seed freedom, it actually showed us more that Kira is by no means weak at close range battle, it's just his suit is not design for it, even in Rising Freedom he could last a lot longer against ambush in contrast to shinn who got dispatched quiet easily, but then again this did not means shinn is weak it's just that he did not have as much adaptabily compared to Kira or athurn. The final battle itself also showcased Kira adaptability against massive enemy bombardment, Kira is not fighting 2 vs 1, it's 2 + whole specialized fleet vs 1, which then turn into 1 + whole specialized fleet vs 1 when Athurn steps in and that was in an outdated suit, if you want to know more detailed combat analysis there's a frame by frame analysis video on youtube which was suprisingly approved by the movie director kzitem.info/news/bejne/1H-YuYKgnoZ7mqgsi=kOaQUfHkVG48JIyK kzitem.info/news/bejne/lqut0HinsnyEfm0si=-MMRPcJu0ICvX9hq Well my point is that Kira is by no means weak at close range combat it's just that his suit lacks close range weapon aside from 2 beam sword, but compared to athurn he's definetly weaker in close range.

@@cruzwaldfelt7357 Against Rau, it wasn't really a disadvantage as Kira was slowly evening out the odds. He just couldn't land a killing blow on Rau if he was going to keep it up, that and Rau could also continue to shoot at him to buy time. Against Shinn (Impulse), the Freedom wasn't exactly 'outdated'. The Saviour was hyped to be more on the cutting edge of technology but the Freedom's specs and Kira's skill makes the 'outdated' aspect moot. Kira was defeated by strategy, his crippling self-imposed rule and being unable to defend himself and the Archangel at the same time. Kira was able to score some would-be-fatal hits on the Impulse if not kill Shinn in close-range using his beam sabers were the Impulse not a combiner-type MS which Shinn used to throw Kira off his game. Kira fully intended to get rid of Shinn before the final attack was made. The attack at the Impulse's central torso (really close to the cockpit that is) would be a killing move if the Impulse couldn't separate itself. Outside of pretty much rendering the Freedom unable to be repaired in the end, before the final stab, Shinn only really damaged one of the shoulder guards and pretty much destroyed the wings on the backpack. The entire thing with Seed Freedom is that the Rising Freedom is pretty much a 'remake' of the OG Freedom but not as strong because it's battery powered, not nuclear powered (thanks to the treaty.) If Kira can wreck enemies using beam sabers with the Freedom, he can do the same with Rising Freedom. Kira was a monster at close-range back using the Strike. Only problem is that Kira was mentally raped by Orphee, mind read by the Black Knights and his MS was damaged pretty badly by the time he recovered from just that. His Full Burst failed to do anything meaningful to tip the battle around and he started using beam sabers far too late against the BKs even if they didn't mind read him. Also, Shura's Shi-ve.A, again, would easily trash the Rising Freedom in close-range given that it's an evil IJII (Foundation style.) Shinn lost because... A) The Immortal Justice is spec'd for Athrun, not for him. Hence Shinn can't use his normal berserk fighting style that the Impulse and Destiny let him do. B) He's following Kira's 'no kill' rule still which is heavily problematic against the Black Knights. C) He gets distracted by the Archangel being shot down at the worst possible time (which even the opposing BK grunt tells him was a poor move to make at such a time), resulting in Shinn dropping his guard and letting his opponent bisect the IJ and take the win. I was referring to Kira (SFII) vs. Shura (Shi-ve.A) and Orphee/Ingrid (Cal-re.A), either in the 1-v-1 or 1-v-2. As Athrun proved, it's not impossible to make Shura play defensive. You just can't be passive-aggressive and only use ranged weaponry to fight. Kira stays true to his fighting style (which the Foundation studied extensively) and Shura closes the distance and puts Kira on the defense right away. Close-range without any ways to defend is scarily close to null against the Cal-re.A's superior firepower and defenses. Kira's close-range abilities are sharp, up with Shinn, neither are however indeed close to being a close-range fighter god like Athrun.
