The Gongchen Bridge is located north of Daguan Bridge in downtown Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It stretches east to Lishui Road and Taizhou Road, and west to Qiaonong Street and Lianxiaohe Road, spanning across Xiaohe Road. It is the tallest and longest stone arch bridge among the ancient bridges in Hangzhou.
The bridge is 98 meters long and 16 meters high, with a slightly narrower middle section of 5.9 meters wide, widening to 12.2 meters wide at the abutments on both ends. It features three slender piers supporting camel-back arches. The side spans are 11.9 meters, while the central span is 15.8 meters. The thickness of the arch stones is 30 centimeters, about 1 meter thick at the piers, which is 1/52.7 and 1/39.7 of the span respectively, and about 1/15.8 of the larger span. The parapet stones are 20 centimeters thick. The bridge is constructed on wooden pile foundations, with the arch rings laid in longitudinal segmented rows.
