Unlike that infamous movie poster of Lars Von Trier’s film Nymphomaniac showing close ups of cast members pulling their best (fake) sex faces for the camera, Albert Pocej‘s Orgasm is the authentic version, showing women at the height of orgasm with no acting involved whatsoever. Albert says, “I didn’t want this project to be a cliché, I didn’t want any acting - just the real feeling as it is. Every human being is different, so are their orgasms. I wasn’t trying to make it any better as it is in life. I wanted to make those looking at these pictures to think. And clichés don’t make people think.” Obviously, one of the challenges of a project as intimate as this involved finding women willing to do the act in front of a camera. Albert wrote to people he knew would possibly be open to such as task, and ended up with 20 women volunteers… a number which dwindled to 15 as the shooting progressed. To put some women at ease during the act, the Lithuanian photographer left the room, relying on time lapse photography for the shoot. Others, he says, were comfortable with the act and didn’t mind him behind the lens. Shot beautifully and artfully in black and white, the portraits show real women with their emotions wide open for the world to see, all the while keeping their eyes clenched shut. Sorry I did not get to his production but I got this short description from Google. Please base your search on the above information. 2024 February 8, New York City.
