不只中國人和日本人經常喜歡把濕衣服掛在屋外被太陽曬乾,事實歐洲意大利意大利人也喜歡這樣做 it's not only Chinese and Japanese always like take wet clothes hanging outside of house by the sun dry, in actually that Italians like do that in Italy of European
Like your way of humor! Surprise to know that packing left-over food from a restaurant in Japan is "inappropriate" haha...Also don't tell me that you are really going to try out your "No tips in-advance notice" research option. If you do, let us know how it goes LOL... 😁
"Head In" Parking in USA/Canada, is because we all have "Rear View Camera" equipped. Japan did not have "Rear View Camera" in the past, they always park "Head Out" so when they drive out, they can easily see the traffic to avoid accidents; However, there is a difference in Restaurants: In Japan, the waiters/waitresses must read back what customers have ordered, to make sure all orders taken are accurate. In USA/Canada/China, waiters/waitresses do not, in most cases, read back to the customers. For wearing T-Shirt walking outside in USA/Canada, is same as in Japan, boys/girls wearing shorts in winter /snow days. Japanese people believe kids wearing shorts/skirts are good for their health when they are young.

Not really, head in only works in huge parking lots. Try doing that in Japan, I can guarantee you will not able to leave afterwards.

I never like the idea of giving tips, cause I am always very confused as to how much I should give, I like it when the service charge is included in the bill.
We dry clothes outdoor. This totally depends on you have a private backyard and the local climate is nice. Luckily we are on the West Coast (SF-San Jose-LA-SD, Calif), the intraday high temperature during winters can hit 65~70°F. Our desert like environment can dry things quickly. CA has too many Asians. Not sure about WA and OR on the West Coast. I hear they got too much rain and snow in winters. US heartland and the East Coast are too cold now. Even Texas gets snow these days. On the other hand, the East Coast is super humid during summers. I don't feel it's easy for them to dry clothes. My son's best high school buddy is second generation Japanese. Actually, all his gay friends are 2nd gen. Indian, Jew, Taiwanese. Some are Latinos.

Yeah, gotta use the dryer in this season of Raincouver. In North America, people don’t care about electricity bill too much? LoL
Dear Mako, don't you find the biggest cultural difference between America and China/Japan is that American will wear their shoes into the house without changing to a par of indoor shoes?
So true, I have lived 2 years in Toronto, Canada and 13 years in the USA. I have the same observations. Now, I have been living in Australia for 24 years. Australia has a mix of both Eastern and Western cultures and norms with kinder and gentler people than Americans, meaning without the American exceptionalism attitude. However, you can still see the shoes of the persons in the toilet stalls in Australia.😁
