Even in cases where I do not understand a reference, I can tell when a good reference is made. No idea what Kumitae is.

Tough match, didn't look like Ronald was able to break through Sean's serve / receive too well. With a few missed opportunities, that's pretty much wraps against a player like Sean.

Ronald has some crazy moments, but from the matches I've seen, he doesn't look 2500+, maybe more like low 2400s or high 2300s. Too many simple mistakes. Maybe I'm mistaken though.

It fluctuates a lot for him since his primary focus is coaching and has ZERO regular training, and we can't ignore that he's playing against a legit top #10 player in Sean Zhang here in the states.

@@LosAngelesTableTennis Yeah, when you're not training at all then it's practically impossible to do well against a player like Sean. That being said, I've seen 4-5 matches of Ronald, and while yes, you can tell he's rusty, realistically his rating is currently not 2500+ (imo*). I'm not near that level though, so I'm not the most credible lol.

You'd be surprised though. A 2700 player is so much better than 2500 player. It's like comparing a 2000 player w/ a 1500 player. You'd say that the 1500 player should be much lower. But no, it's that the player he was playing is SO much better that the 1500 player is an amateur as compared to a 2000. But if the 1500 player went against a 1300 player, then you'd see that the 1500 is warranted. I watched a game on KZitem between a 2700 player and a legit 2500 player. I know he's legit because he used to live in my area and play at my club. He kicked some serious butt. I'm talking beating 2300, even 2400 players (my coach) fairly easily. But watching that same man against a legit top U.S. player, he was destroyed, and very easily. It was Jishan Liang vs. Rajat Hubli. Jishan just had him for a snack. lol. Then there was once I recorded a video and had posted it, but a few years later I took it down. It was a Nigerian player, a solid 2650, vs. a local Chinese player rated slightly above 2500, like 2515 or so. That Chinese player makes mince meat of even 2400 players. But he looked like a total amateur against the experienced Nigerian player. It was like me playing a 2300 player. He got destroyed 3-0. Totally obliterated and obviously way outmatched. But the Chinese player was a legit 2515ish player, and still plays to this day but I think he's in California now. I think his name is Tian Li? I could be wrong. But this Nigerian guy showed up at the tournament not even warmed up. (I helped to kind of warm him up.) He went through every challenger like a sharp knife through warm butter. Even played this 2400 kid like 15 or 16 yrs old, and I could tell he went easy on him - often having gone back behind the table and lobbing. The dude kicked some serious butt. All this to say that it's hard to judge the level of a person based on how he performs against a higher-rated opponent. Don't discount someone just because they get destroyed.

@@ramonbmovies you are right, ronald is really good and definitely didnt get to showcase his abilities in this match. All I was pointing out was that I have seen some other matches of his where he wasn't so outmatched, and had the same feeling. PS. Jishan liang is an absolute beast, and was the nigerian player maybe ojo onaolapo? not sure
