I really like the colour scheme of the Crane M3, but I have to say it does seem a bit out of my budget. I'm wondering if this new one will be able to carry my Sony A7Siii? Other than that I see it has a phone holder, does that mean this gimbal will be able to carry shots with my iphone? Anyway thanks for the review, your videos are always so comprehensive! Is there a difference balancing smartphones between the m2s and the smooth 5. How more convenient is the smooth 5 when it comes to balancing smartphones? Or is there much of a difference at all.
@SePark
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cuyo, if you compare the M2S to the Smooth 5, for phones only, Smooth 5 is much more convenient (more than just balancing aspect). The M2S is a camera gimbal first then phone gimbal as an option. Currently it doesn't have the phone recording app support and tracking like it does for Smooth 5. Only advantage may be the motor power since it is more forgiving for unbalanced weight or larger lens support. There is also the convenience factor if you want one gimbal for both your full camera and a phone.

This is a great comparison review! Would these two gimbals hold an iPhone 12 Pro Max with lens and filters? Does the record buttons and other physical controls work with the native iPhone camera app and/or Filmic Pro?
@SePark
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Yes this gimbal will hold iPhone 12 Pro Max with most of the lenses and filters. Because this gimbal is camera gimbal first then phone gimbal, currently it does not have the app support for you to control the phone camera input such as the record button. In the past, Zhiyun had their own app to be able to control that. Not sure if they will add in that feature in the future via a firmware update. You'll have to control those within the other recording app you are using for now.

Hi Brad! Arca Swiss is the life. 😁 Yeh if you use the gimbal as a tripod it’s not that bad. I put the Zhiyun Transmount quick release on both the tripods and able to switch back and forth fairly easily. (This works well for smaller cameras since it can be top heavy)

@@juspain1 that's righ! Yeh that lens is borderline too big for the M3. It will carry the weight, but it won't balance perfectly. There is no "almost perfect budget small size gimbal" for that setup as right now. Weebill 2 unfortunately fell little short of that. If you have the budget, as of today, DJI RS2 would be the best gimbal for that setup. It's not almost perfect for recommendation because of the price. As for good prime lens for Sony in that range, 50mm F1.2 is what I have been recommending. If you use it on A7 IV, it will give you the 50-75mm range, but you will have some insane bokeh range even at the crop mode because of F1.2.

Yes, that setup adds up to 814 grams. My test setup is way more than that and balanced. The only thing is that you'll have some limit on how much you can tilt your screen depending on how front heavy that setup is. It will definitely carry that weight, but since that lens is front heavy, perfectly balanced setup my interfere with the back motor hitting the camera when going underslung position.

Hi Se, I recently purchased anamorphic lenses for my iPhone 13 Pro along with 67mm ND filters and need to upgrade my gimbal. I think the M3 would be a good choice. My question is how do I mount my DJI mic receiver? I though to purchase a different phone holder with a shoe mount on top. If you think this is a good work around then what mount would you recommend that won't conflict (hit) the ND filters.Your thoughts and advice would be appreciated......

@SePark
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes the quick release does allow you to put it back exactly where it was, but the issue with full frame camera and small gimbal is that, because the arm is adjusted to the max extension, you cannot fold up the gimbal to its smallest size when packing it away. If you pack it away with all the arms folded, you have to re-balance the gimbal.

How do you compare Crane M2 and Crane M2S? If I don’t need the led light, does the price difference is worth?
@SePark
2 жыл бұрын
In terms of feature, other than the light, Crane M2 does have more features. The biggest difference is the motor power and how much it can carry. If you have a larger setup, M2S can handle that much better than M2. If you have a tiny camera setup like a point and shoot cameras, M2 is a better value still. Also if you are using it for your phone M2 has a better app support surprisingly. I have a full review of the M2 from that perspective here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/xouoz3dvnGqEdGU

🌍 How to connect a wireless microphone? No space? ZV-1
@SePark
2 жыл бұрын
Since ZV-1 has the shoe on the left side, it will be one of the least restricted in terms of point and shoot camera microphone transmitter position. It may clear the roll motor. It will depend on the transmitter. For example Rhode wireless Go has a fairly small profile. I don't have a ZV-1 to test it out directly but it's a good bet it will balance and not hit the roll motor.

@REMY.C.
2 жыл бұрын
@@SePark the paper weight 😂 Strangely the Crane M2 I have is really hard to balance with my phone, and that's why I bought it for. I have a OnePlus 7t Pro plus with very light moment filters and when I place this on the gimbal, the balance is really fragile, it's almost like the phone is a bit long so the weight is distributed on a thin surface. That confuses the Crane. When I hardly get I balanced, and remove it then put it again, which is normally possible with any gimbal, balance is gone and I need to tune it again. This doesn't seem to happen with a heavier camera like the zv1 that has a wider base and therefore more weight distribution. That's why I want to test it with my xt4 but I need to find a light autofocus lens. Maybe the 23m f2 before investing in a big gimbal.

@SePark
2 жыл бұрын
@@rtranyday175 hi! Welcome to the channel. Thanks for the support! I updated my Crane 2S firmware just now to be able to tell you for certain. If you connect your a7 iv via USB-C you can control the camera setting but record button won’t work. If you connect it via multi port, you can control the record but not the camera setting. Problem with a7 iv with really any gimbal is that if you connect the wire, your screen movement is very limited. Honestly any gimbal I use, I use it without the wire. I got so used to it, I am much faster without the wires especially for wedding shoots. You’re right Crane 2S is very ideal for zooming without balancing. It’s so strong, it doesn’t care. When I used to use RS2 with 24-70, it kept beeping when zooming because it was too sensitive to the load weight changes. If you don’t travel very often via airplane, it’s a solid gimbal. If you travel a lot, can spend $900 on a gimbal, and use mainly just prime lenses, RS2 is great.
