We had a chance to hang out with Morgan Rose and talk about then and now of his drumming career and about the future of Sevendust.
Here is the transcript:
I really started playing drums when I was 18. My dad got me a kit when I was three years old. My dad keeps telling me I learned a different song but If 6 was 9 by Hendrix when I was 3 or 4 years old. So I was basically a drummer at 3 retired at 4 years old and I picked it back up when I was 18. So it's been a long ride.
I am weird guy with cymbals. You know certain cymbal that I play, I like the way they sound better than others but they break a little eaiser for me. I really do like thin cymbals but live they don't give me the volume that I really want as much as the studio. I mean I will go all over the place. I played Zs forever, I played Z3, A Custom, A Projections, I kind of try to mix and match. I am kind of throwing arms all over the place. So I am not one of those guys that says you know I really want that A Projection 19" right here because that is where I am going to ride. I really don't care too much. I am just kind of like, give me a wide variety of stuff, I will figure out as I am going along.
What's next for us is, we are on tour now. This will go until mid-October and we have some shows that we will fill in throughout the rest of the year. Maybe a few in November when we do the Ship Rock Cruise with Hell Yeah and 10 years I think is on it. Bunch of bands are on that thing and then we will go to Mexico for 5 days and then we will do our New Years Eve run at the end of the year. We are going to do an acoustic tour in January and then in February we will go in and do the next record.
