Here is the original soundtrack recording of "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" from arguably Disney's most infamous film, Song of the South, as performed by James Baskett. The recording has been synced to footage from a Technicolor print of the film. Music is by Allie Wrubel, while lyrics are by Ray Gilbert.
Despite efforts made by Disney to make the film as racially sensitive as possible, controversy has surrounded the film since it's release. As such, the film has never been released in full in a home video format domestically. International releases also ceased in the late 1990s.
Despite these misgivings, the film received various Academy Award nominations, winning Best Song for "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah", and Baskett was given an honorary Oscar for his portrayal of Uncle Remus, the first black male actor to be given the statue.
