According to the Zippo catalogs from the early 2000s, the Gold Dust is a gold-plated zippos, it is in the "gold-electroplated" section of many catalogs. Also the gold plated Zippos weren't expensive either, there were in the same price range as the Gold Dust. The Zippo's website also described the Zippo and being gold-dipped and tumbled. They stopped selling these in 2020, and introduced the "Classic Tumbled Brass" Zippo, I think they started making an Armor version earlier, back in 2014.

Thank you for explaining sir! Out of interest, did the gold dust developed patina like the other brushed brass zippo (I assumed the gold dust was newer by the looks of it) ?

Did you turn your brushed chrome into a brushed brass lighter?

The finish does not affect the sound. The exception is the matte finished lighters. The slims are not as loud but they are different designs.

No, it's not. There's only one gold model Zippo, it's high polished, 18k solid gold, and it costs $11,722.95.
