Hi Brian… I come to you via Peter and I’m now subbed. You are a true Ham Radio experimenter and I love your jungle garden, a lot. My garden is 6x4 mtrs and I’ve just started up again since 1996…so I’m a novice despite the call sign. I’ve got a doublet around the gutter again thanks to watching Peter and just squeezed in a 35ft 6inch random wire with a bit of jiggery pokery not yet fully tested. I’ve got higher swr than usual but got a contact in Serbia using about 30watts because of the high swr. So bash on. Your antenna builds are fascinating and encouraging. I’ll soldier on. Well done, good man. Do they not have covonia in ZL😆 😉 73.from Wigan.😁 💙 G0UvL

Thanks for the great presentation and advice. I've been running a 40 to 10 end fed for a while, and after seeing what you've achieved with so little, I've decided to try your suggested approach. Thanks very much Brian, I look forward to doing as you have done, make comparisons and having fun working DX. John, VK3EMI.

First DX nearly 40 years ago as a U.S. novice was Rochester, NY to Buenos Aires, Argentina using an elevated ¼-wave with four elevated radials on 10 meters. These antennas can be DX gorillas and cost little to erect.

@@richegan7381 yes ,simple resonant ants can be fantastic . Many seem to think, the more money spent, and more parts to a ant, the better it is going to get real dx. 73 zl3xdj

Excellent, simple way to boost performance of a vertical antenna. I've use a similar approach with 25m/10m verticals. Aloha es 73 de Russ (KH6JRM).

Nice one Brian. My best performing 20 m for DX has also proven to be the wire vertical on a fishing pole with elevated radial(s) and feedpoint about 2 m above ground. Need to get back out with it again.... But work work work and rain rain rain are a pain at the moment. By the way..... WAKE UP!! 😂 Best wishes M3KXZ

New subscriber, thanks to Watersstanton referral. It looks like your masts are made from black water pipe. If so, how rigid are they? Lots of information in the video. Thank you for it. Brian VE3GUE

@@HamRadioN0CKL yes I did use a wrapped ferrite ring for a one to one choke, but I will change that, to ferrite clamps in the future, as it's easier to manage. No, I don't use tuners on resonant ants. 73 zl3xdj

Mate, how.muxh more could you get with a Raised paracitic reflector with radials behind that antenna. Out of interested have you tried coupling your radials between the driven antenna and the paracitic reflector?
