It's exhausting to constantly be sexualized for male pleasure, while simultaneously being told that our own pleasure is irrelevant/inappropriate. We're always told that sex is a natural thing, yet people act like female pleasure is unnatural. Honestly normalize parents buying their teenage daughters sex toys. Why would you have the birds and bees talk with your kids and then expect them to not want to explore their bodies? As someone who was born female, I put things inside of me that should’ve never been in there because I was too young to go to an adult store, and my mom was and still is very anti-sex and anti-masturbation. I’m so lucky I don’t have any issues like infections, because I was not using safe stuff. Not to pop off- this is just a topic I’ve been passionate about for years.

I knew nothing about sexual health, pleasure and hygiene until I turned 19 last year in august. I also knew nothing about sexual abuse and rape within relationships until I turned 19 and knew nothing about consent until I turned 19. These are all things that need to be taught during our teenage years. Consent and boundaries should be taught from early childhood, and ‘no’ needs to be the default answer to the question “do you want to have sex?” People need to always assume the answer is no unless there’s an enthusiastic yes

The “talk” I had was in 7th grade, and it was just a lady teacher telling us some day we’ll get our periods and our voice will change. I’d already started my period and have voice changes by then. They didn’t explain WHY those things happened, they didn’t explain what those things mean, they didn’t explain how they related to sex and growing up. it is SO IMPORTANT to allow teens access to information about self pleasure. especially so they can learn about themselves in a safe manner as well. i didn’t even KNOW what a vibrator was until i was 16 fcking years old. i went to a very sheltered catholic elementary and high school. sex was so unbelievably stigmatized and the only “sex ed” we got was in 6th grade when the nuns told us that our periods were punishment from god for the sins of eve, that using tampons was “sinful”, gave us a stick of deodorant and one pad and sent us on our merry way. of course the dudes got a three hour lesson on everything they could possibly need to know about themselves. they were actually TAUGHT what self pleasure was (it was obviously condemned by the nuns but nonetheless they were taught about it) the girls never heard a single word about self pleasure. not once. :) the double standard is absolutely flabbergasting

Yay!! Ok so I love that she is standing up against this. Don't blame her for something you (the school) did not research enough about. I don't know about Ireland but in the U.S. every state is given the power to regulate sx ed which leads to inconsistencies in knowledge. A large portion of issues would be resolved if children were taught sxual health education, Examples: Unwanted pregnancies, Abortion, & increased hardships economically. This is not just men vs. Women, it includes conservatives &/or religion, it includes selfishness. Some men want someone who is below them. Some religious people extremely want the world to follow their beliefs. Then there are some who will withold knowledge in hopes that their child bares them grandkids. You see with knowledge comes power. Power to youths on whether they want kids & when. Power to choose when, how, & with whom to engage with intimately. Seeing a young man speak about this gives me hope that society is changing for the better. Thank you Adam. I F*king LOVE you bestie. 🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖

So many things as women we are told not to talk about, like s*x, breasts, v*ginas, menopause, etc., it is frustrating. Oh and heaven forbid you actually enjoy s*x, then we are labeled sl*ts or worse, I even had a male friend ask me to be his mistress, talk about insulting! I'm a 43 year old mom who gave birth to 2 children & like someone else commented below, I still have questions about my body. Trigger Warning (s*x ab*se mentioned below) I actually developed body dismorphia because I was taught to believe naked bodies were a sinful, shameful, ugly thing & that men wanted to do bad things when they saw my body so it was my responsibility to hide my body. I was sexually abused the summer I was 9 over a period of several weeks by an elderly family member who told me my body was at fault for his actions. It reinforced the idea that my body was a bad, ugly thing. I was also date raped by two different men as a young adult. I honestly believe one of the reasons we are taught that it's not okay to talk about our bodies or sex is in part because of predators like the men who abused me. They don't want us to talk about those things, it takes away their power. I also think men fear we won't need them if we can use toys to satisfy our own needs. I could be way wrong but that's my opinion based on my experiences.

I've been subscribed to zoe since I was like 13 or 14 and I'm now 23, why they're trying to push the narrative that her audience is so young is beyond me, her subscribers she gained at her peak make up most of her current following and so have aged along with her, not only that but the content she is currently posting is generally aimed towards young adults not young teens. Regardless of the current age group anyway, if I had learnt about women's health more than I was taught about what happens when you get pregnant in school I wouldn't have made half the bad decisions I made as a teenager when all the information I got was from other people in school who had most likely got the information from dodgy websites that weren't correct

When growing up as a young lady and duscovering self pleasures. I did a lot thing that could cause UTIs and STIs. Without the proper education that is. Like there isn't a young female out there trying doing different things. I think its important that we get this information sooner to avoid some of the errors I personally had made in the past. Owning and using toys as well could be proved beneficial as well in teaching people how keep everything working right and clean. I was gonna get deeper but I find this works well enough so I shall leave it here.

But men and young boys can go on the websites and you know... take care of themselves but it's wrong for a woman to promote a toy? It doesn't make any sense to me.

if "men" are getting mad about this then they're not men...they're boys...men would respect women and what they want to do with their bodies. this is BOY behavior not MEN behavior.
