No other CS II creator thinks about industrial areas like you do, and you make it really interesting. I am reminded of the mixed use area near Cadbury where we had the tile shops and the plant nursery. What I like about the warehouse style assets that come in -particularly in one spot you showed, is that is where you find artists studios and crafts people who make things. I am wondering if internet towers near the industrial builds will help the office areas and industry? Also, yes -a little park to commemorate the tornado victims of May 2024 would be wonderful to include. LOVED seeing your episode!!!

Zoning tip - if you only use snap to grid and snap to zoning cell length that helps prevent the grid from breaking. In some edge cases you’ll want to select the start of your road that way, then turn off snap to grid and only use zoning cell length.

Just a tip I learned, if you lower taxes to say 5-7 for well and highly educated. Default for other citizens. It actually promotes those citizens to move in, saving the hassle of schooling them. City Planner Plays has a video on this technique. Love the look of your builds, keep it up.😊

The reason why the zoning grids breaks is ground elevation, mostp layers dont even notice it because they mostly use the top down view. A perfect sqaure roadgrid needs to be perfectly level otherwise it will still do weirdness with the zoning.

@FewCandy 13:26. It has to do with that second last button, the 4 squares. What I have found is, for the best results, have it on when you start your rooad to make sure that you start within the existing grid, and then switch it off before you end the road.

Think about the taxing of different education levels, higher taxes on well educated probably means less of them will move into the city -> which leads to less demand for offices.

As an American, there are a couple ways to pronounce Lafayette. Most people (myself included) pronounce it Law-fee-yet. I’ve also heard it pronounced La-fee-yet. With kind of a high ‘a’ tone. Anyway, if you’re going with the New Orleans/Louisiana theme, I think you should consider using the word Parish, as the state of Louisiana uses Parish instead of county.

Geothermal energy should be green as far as I know. In Iceland I believe they even build public baths around them and make use of the waste water of the plant since is completely clean. Regarding your industry, based on my experience demand doesn´t necessarily mean the need for more buildings. I was lacking well educated citizens and above for my factories and the demand for industry was up. Instead of keep building what I did was reducing the taxes on those groupes to promote moving in and it worked. You have built a lot of dedicated industry and now the game is trying to make use of those materials you are producing. I am pretty sure if you fulfil your commercial demand businesses related to those industries will spawn. Build to make it pretty is cool but you must respect a bit more the game mechanics if you want the budget to balance properly. if you keep deleting the assets so it spawns a building you like you will keep dragging the issue. Also the location will be helpful, a little bit of regular industry closer to the dedicated industry.

Next to the College should the University fit well. Think of an "education" zone 🙂 (+ students-condo's?) And finally: please, please, do NOT fill up every single green spot with trees. We Sims, like to play football between 4 jackets or just sit on a blanket, drinking wine or beer and watch an amateur band, playing on a self-made podium. A green green plan field of grass does makes us feel so good.

I've been greatly enjoying watching you and others explore 2. It seems like one of the top requests from everyone is the zoning toggle. That was a great improvement for 1, and I assume it will come eventually. It's been interesting as everyone gets used to the quirks of 2, and how quickly you've all adapted your individual styles to jump right back into creating a city in your own unique ways. I'm sure you personally miss the props, but you're using what detailing is available to its fullest. Really enjoying Few Orleans.

Reducing the budget for education doesn't reduce the capacity of schools. It only reduces the chances of graduation which, depending on how you look at it, can be bad. Also, I wonder if making the tax high for lower education and low for high education can help encourage the cims to go to school.

I've only played one map for now, and am at 75K population. I didn't get any office demand, until I builded an university. Which makes no sense. And I didn't build an university, until I was at maybe 60K, as it makes no sense to have it, at 15K. A college should increase demand, as well.

Sometimes I get stuck in 'grid rut' where I have a bad habit of building in grids or squares. Its fun to make it more interesting, My best city so far, I never flattened the land, I challenged myself to build using the natural contours. It was much more fun. However, i would say I wish it was easier to start with a much smaller village.

I think there is a bug with the high school . I got a population of 7000 people. 1500 elementary students and 80 high-school students.... and the coverage on info tab is perfect
@SineN0mine3
10 ай бұрын
Have a look at your population stats. From those numbers it sounds like you've probably only got 100 or so eligible students. You tend to have more children then teens. The high school should support many elementary schools worth of students before you need a second one. I believe that even if your coverage is perfect some cims will simply be unable to afford to travel to or attend school. It should be a fairly small amount but you're probably not going to see 100% enrolment. I've got about 32k people with 309 highschool students. That doesn't sound like a lot, but there's only 375 eligible. If I check the population tab, I can see that teenagers only make up 5% of my population. This might still be a bug, 5% of my population should still be 1,500 not 375 however Collosal Order say they've fixed the bug relating to education and that it didn't affect highschools only college and university. I'm guessing that education doesn't take as long as it takes a cim to age up from teenager to adult, so some of them are already graduated. Only 1% drop out according to the info panel on the school so that should be a dozen or so students at most. The other explanation is that cims will only get an education if they can A) afford to attend, school costs them money B) get to school, they either have to be able to walk or afford taxi or transit fares if they don't own a car. If they're driving they'll need to afford parking. C) need appropriate jobs. If there are only unskilled jobs in your city, cims will not bother to get educated. Over time I expect that some of these things will be tweaked for balance, but I don't think it's a bug, just a little quirk of the simulation. You can try lowering taxes for educated cims to see if that encourages more people to enrol, but you'll still need unskilled workers so don't worry too much if you're not getting every cim through highschool.
