Absolutely love your videos. Zoox cearly values the significant time it takes to produce them, and puts good energy into the presentation. I also like that you really share engineering processes and info, so many other tech videos are all fluff and nothing for the intelligent consumer. Thanks!

It's because they have nothing of substance to show. Autonomy is years away, but hey, someone's gotta do it.

Do you think people from all around the world will be able to help map their areas in the future? I would love to map as much as possible, so Services like Zoox will be available for as many people as possible as soon as possible

Sensors are not the reason why this (or any other intent of self-driving functionality) doesn't work, right? Taking good decisions fast is the biggest challenge, and a MAJOR risk for this futuristic vision. One mistake and... game over
@LoganKaser

The ability to good decisions requires an accurate understanding of the state of the world. Without good perception systems (and just raw sensor data is too low level, you really need a good semantic understanding), even an incredible planner would not be able to function. Just like how humans don't drive well in low visibility scenarios.

@@LoganKaser right, perception is key but tribial compared to decision-making. We know how the human eye works but not the brain. We can measure distances and place objects on a 3D representation but defining a trajectory in a constantly evolving scenario is at another level. There is a huge amount of possible and unpredictable variations, and it has to deliver a very precise output. Every time. At a very fast rate
