My favorite scene is when ranveer as driver walking towards the club entrance and bouncer tells him to go back and out of fustration he raps in his car and the girl comes out crying and then ranveer narrates in his mind "kehne ko hum pass lekin" in the car. So beautifully picturized!

@@mrinalinimusic The difference between males and females is not the problem. It is anyway overrated in my opinion. My problem is that why do all the females want a pat on their back for the success and hard work of one individual? Zoya is good in her craft cause she has learned and mastered the art of film making. It takes years of study and practice. In fact, this is true for any field. Your gender may give you a boost in certain skills but it is up to you to hone it and shape it. For eg: men are supposed to be stronger than women but there are plenty of professional women fighters who can easily beat most of the men. It's cause they worked on their skillset and got better.

After a night viewing of the film, I think it’s just to assert that Zoya is one of the finest directors in today’s times to grace Hindi Cinema! Gully Boy was truly a cinematic experience, and seeing Zoya extract something entirely new from Ranveer even in their second collaboration is a mark of excellence! Gully Boy’s biggest assets were its strong script, earnest performances, and of course, its music! I never thought I’d be so consumed by Murad’s journey to the extent where I didn’t see any trace of that energetic and hyped up off screen persona he has. The Doori sequence, Mere Gully Mein video shoot with MC Sher, the numerous father son interactions between Murad and his father, and the very final performance were just some of the many brilliant moments that stood out in such an emotional journey! Literally- Ranveer aur Alia ka time aagaya! Thank you for the lovely discussion Anupama! Keep the great content coming :)

@17:45 when zoya u said about dreams, I felt in the movie that Murad feels that he isnt anything because somehow he respects the rich ones and feels that they are so much above and he is very much noone unless kalki says that u u r an artist. From where you came doesn't matter. It doesn't matter because our talent kind of equates us.

This movie adds to the positive trend in Bollywood of making realistic movies. Great work by Zoya ! Ranveer is shown dark complexioned that’s so cool and impactful. The slum scenes are so authentic. The dialogues and lingo are truthful and do justice to the characters and story. MC Sher: ‘woh log jaat-paat ya dharam nahi dekhte bas aankho mein jhakte hain’. That’s awesome.

If i meet zoya in real life i want to lovingly hug her tight (with her consent ofcourse :)) she is the best thing to have happened to bollywood ever. Isko dekh ke dil se dua nikalti hai.I cant tell you all how much i love her for her movies. I feel so proud that i belong to the same country that she does. This is a very rare sentiment for me , reserved only for the truest "bharat ratnas". For me Zoya i one of them.

I liked Alia's character the best. She was crazily in love with Ranveer's character, and at the same time it didn't feel like she was OBSESSED about him.

Loved all of Zoya's comebacks to Anupama about the criticism. She wasn't being defensive, she was being reasonable. Also, I didn't mind the length of the movie at all, I actually didn't want it to end 😅 What a dumbass critic Anupama is, musicals are generally longer.

Anupama maam this is incredible! Before and after the release two different interviews just amazing!! Ever since the Gully scene has started created the wave I just cannot stop watching their interviews. Just when I thought won't get anymore, this came in like a treat!! I've relived the movie through her genius mind all over again and thanks to your brilliant conversations!! And for the record, just as 'Apna time ayega' ended I just didn't want the movie to end. I wanted more. Just more. So length was alright for this one

She and Reema are my favourite writer director duo. Such depth and emotional abundance in their narrative. The length was not a problem if you are able to enjoy every moment. I hate re-watching content but have seen this movie thrice now over a year..

I don't think the film was lengthy at all. If a film is made perfectly.....Length is just a number. I didn't even check how much tym is left.......2ndly in India.....We should stop having intervals for Heaven's Sake.....It break the momentum so badly man. Like I was so much in the movie and that 15 min break just took me out of that space. But otherwise this was a masterpiece n a flawless movie made in a long long time. More power to Zoya and congratulations to her😎✌️

I watched Gully Boy yesterday only. It was a movie standing metaphorical to the unconvenctionality of the working class who spend their entire life in cubicles but Ranveer's character refused to do so. The supporting cast was so phenomenal. The movie has become the face of the extreme musical and acting potential of Indian movies. Keep up the good work and make 2019 an even more better year than 2018.

I think gully boy will somehow slog it’s way to the 200cr club and become a blockbuster. My gut feeling says so because Raazi and Stree were multiplex films which trended real well after an opening weekend of less than 50cr. It looks like Gully Boy will make 70cr in its opening weekend. And content wise this is leaps better. So let’s wait and watch. If Total Dhamaal works( which is highly unlikely ), then LT could be 140cr
