I saw ZZ Top live once. It was on their Concrete and Steel tour. Extreme opened up for them. And to be honest, I only wanted to see Extreme. But I stayed and witnessed one of the best bands I have ever seen. They crushed it. Dusty will forever live through their music. RIP brother.

In 1974 I was 14 and had worked all year after school and weekends to buy $900 bucks worth of Pioneer home stereo. My brother came home on leave from the Navy and put an LP from a group I'd never heard of on the platter and cranked it up, it was "Tres Hombres," 💥 mind blown! RIP Dusty 😢

This is an example of the very best SLOW BURNING grooving ZZ Top and the bass drum groove and power will never be matched. Guitar is NOT over played and every note has a purpose and soul. These sessions are fabulous. I still remember the Johnny Carson train wreck appearance with Doc's house band completely making a mockery of the 3 piece power trio and their music. This video series will serve to preserve the actual magic these guys would have in a small Texas juke joint. Screw MTV and the mega stadiums, this is where these guys shine. Drummer so far behind the beat he's waving from the back. This music needs NOTHING else. Old guys still out play any young people alive and they invented this genre. This is THE bass tone to strive for.

I like that fuzz Dusty had on his Bass. It's just right. And that Bass riff is cool, towards the end. The whole ending was tight too. Well done ZZ Top and rest in peace, Dusty. I've been a fan since 1976 or before. My brother has ALL their albums. My favorite band, without question. LaGrange is a time honored song that's unmatched in rhythm.... compared to any song, anywhere in the known universe. It's flawless all the way through. I always figured Billy looped the guitar rhythm part, then soloed over it. Lots of guys were looping back in the 70s. That might be how he accomplished that bad*ss guitar work. No matter how, the guitar work is exceptional and surprisingly understandable- to even a Bass Player's brain :)

That "little ol' band from Texas" is nothing short of incomparable, without a doubt. There's just something so magical about how these three guys manage to create legendary cuts every single time they step into a studio. Their music will echo down through the centuries to hold future generations enthralled, mesmerised and spellbound, thanks to modern media and their "always in the pocket" grooves. Dusty is (and will continue to be) dearly missed by all of us diehard fans, but I'm glad to see that Rev Willy G and Frank have found a way to soldier on without him, and keep moving forward. I wish them all the best and every possible success, because they deserve it... they're literally the only band of their kind that's still together and making great music over more than 50 years. To be honest, I owe Willy, Dusty and Frank a colossal debt. They helped me to grow, both as a musician and a man, and I will keep on singing their praises just as long as I can play a guitar and draw a breath. Thanks for over half a century of amazing music, spiritual guidance and growth. ZZ Top rules, forever!♥️

ZZ is just impossible to describe. A trio of master rockers. Billy F. Gibbons is about the most tasty player you will ever hear. Others with that kind of taste are Joe Walsh and Jeff Beck. They never blow you away with speed, they just hit every note with perfect attack and feel. Frank is the perfect pocket drummer and Dusty is one mean bass playing, gravel voiced bad-ass! I cannot believe that I have never seen them live. How did I miss them on tour?? I will give myself a swift kick in the ass about now.
