Hi there! I recommend sticking with your usual size. I typically wear a size 36 in pants in most brands, and these fit well in that size. Lots of good advice here. Gold plated jewelry is truly a waste of money. The plating fades, they tarnish, etc. I’ve been gradually building a collection of fine jewelry made of real gold, and it’s wonderful being able to wash my hands without having to remove my rings, I can occasionally hop in the shower without taking off my necklace, etc. Real gold pieces still require care, of course, and shouldn’t be abused, but with proper care they actually last and still look beautiful after years of use; the same cannot be said of plated jewelry. A couple of years ago I started cleansing my wardrobe of “fast fashion” pieces and synthetic fabrics. I own less clothing, but the quality and fit are better, they last longer, and they don’t look flimsy and cheap. It was a great decision.

I regret the overly feminine blouses I have. They look fine enough, but I feel like I'm an imposter wearing a costume. Like a man in a dress, I suppose. I only bought them to fit into office culture but I feel kind of gross in them. Holiday sweaters, no matter how tasteful, are also a never-again. It doesnt matter how cute they are if they can only be worn a few weeks out of the year. They just take up closet space. Shoes with pointed toes. I've decided I'm not a masochist and no longer need to mangle my toes. I miss them though....they look so nice.... I also try to avoid mid rise pants. I am so done with pants that sit at (or near) the widest part of my hips and will therefore still sag even if I wear a belt. And that's not to even mention the muffin tops they create on many healthy-weight women. I want pants that suit my hourglass-ish shape, and midrise is not it. Shirts made of synthetic fibers. Since I ditched them, I no longer have to wear deodorant. I figure I've saved at least $100 so far.

It’s funny you mention feeling like an impostor in feminine blouses, I totally get that too. I feel way more comfortable in a simple button-up shirt, much more "me." For me it's definitely clothes that "almost fit" as well as fabrics/materials that don't last. I totally agree about gold-plated jewellery, especially rings. For me, generally earrings and even bracelets can be ok as gold vermeil (which I think is better than just gold plated) but rings never last long if they're not solid gold. For clothing, I've been most disappointed with synthetics and viscose. I do have several viscose skirts/dresses and even a blouse that I really like because they're a bit higher quality, but in general the viscose blouses I've bought from cheaper stores simply haven't held up. Pilling is definitely a sign of poor quality! It indeed happens from short fibres, from the part of the sheep that is inferior such as the belly or underside, or just from poor quality wool to begin with. Long fibres are far superior. I never buy cheap blazers they just look awful. This is especially the case if you're slim because you're relying on the cut of the blazer to give you shape. You can buy them on sale or out of season, and buying one good classic blazer is worth more than many cheap ones. You can get away with a cheaper shirt but not a cheap blazer! IMO. Another thing you can regret is buying a cheap belt or cheap shoes. They are what draws the eye so they better be at least decent and be comfortable. Also cheap knits often don't keep their colour they run in the wash or with hand washing. This is awful and the combination with pilling? Just don't do it. I totally agree on the gold plated jewellery. However if the item is simple, not a chain for instance, you may be able to get it re-plated. Overall it's a mistake trying to keep up with trends with gold plated jewellery, it looks cheap. I forgot to add, you can wear a ruffled blouse if you pair it with something edgy. Like a sharp jacket, or pants which are more masculine looking. I have for instance a pair of camouflage pants that are super casual and it tones down the girly factor, and add plain unfussy shoes or trainers. Or I have a military style jacket it goes very well with a frilly shirt. The contrast is what makes it work and you don't feel silly. Great content keep it up!
