The drums are pretty heavy compared to what we have today. It sounds very modern his drumming. Dave Weckl doesn’t quite do the metal cymbal backbeat like that.

Followed Steps Ahead from alum 1. Sometimes you just have to enjoy things while they last. I still play their music in 2024. This was an Outstanding Concert. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been an SA since day one, superlative musicianship, the playing is otherworldly, and I to miss MB badly.

Mainieri is so under appreciated. A stellar musician, composer, and player. He should be spoken about in the same regard as Brecker, Metheny, et al. What a player!!

The greatest Modern Jazz/Fusion guitarist in the world. I mean, he's played with two of the biggest legends in instrumental music; Miles Davis and Michael Brecker. Although he has other excellent guitarists in this style with their own language, such as Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale, Allan Holdsworth. In addition to playing and improvising masterfully, Mike Stern also has an absurd charisma.

The EWI solo bit sounds like a Holdsworth track from Sand or something. Really cool stuff!

As soon as my brain rests from one of these many sax solos, I’m stunned by the vibraphonist. These are some of the best musicians I’ve ever heard

I have many of their Albums and IMO, the best Incarnation of this Band is with M Brecker on Sax but with or without him, they Are Great!

There is some truly Incredible stuff going on in this concert!
These musicians are all so great... I really wish I could hear this whole concert with all the synthy sounds turned off though... like just regular vibraphone, piano, and sax sounds... anyone feel me?

I know what you mean, the old steps (ahead) til modern times album have something special, same goes for acoustic jazz. But, and i'll die on that hill, specifically the fine tasted integration of the synths, electronic winds and the digital 80s sound is what takes this performance from great to outstanding. A truly staple of an era.

Quels musiciens fabuleux.
