What a patronising bloke....whistle the tunes for God's sake! Plant and Bonham were very polite.

I find it really interesting that LZ could stand tall against the conservative culture in Britain at the time and not be stared down. The long hair, smoking, anti establishment suggestions, they looked like freaks really, but also articulate and intelligent. But when the interview concludes and you hear just how excellent they were, you can see how it broke up the stiffness of society back then.

For two lads in their early twenties quite articulate would have to say not so for today’s musicians.

OK, at this stage: "rather, than the image". But later: Robert's image surpassed the sum of the four Beatlemen's looks.

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this John interview 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on KZitem. 😀

Fans coming to hear what you play rather than what you look like! That lasted many years in fact, a very intelligent observation. Sadly now, Taylor Swift has returned the music fan world back to the 60s.

Bob Wellings. He, of Nationwide fame, who came across as utterly BBC and boring actually did a groundbreaking interview here to his credit. Intelligent and respectful I think he learnt from Bonham and Plant why the musician is far more interesting to listen to than to look at.

Bonham mentions the Beatles..you can see in his face hes still like"they are brilliant still" 😅👍🏻 i like that Zeppelin say cool things about the Beatles. Page's view on them seems to fluctuate back then.

interviewer asked the question at @2:38 .. do you think your music will last long for 8 years? Do you think about being able to whistle the tune, being able to humm the tune as you go away? .. and... even after 54 years.. people still listen to them.. their music has been engraved to the stones forever.

as much as I'd love to hear more interviews from this time, I believe the lack there of adds to the lasting mystery an mystique of the band.

Here is “The Led Zeppelin” in a nutshell: An authentic and novel signature of rhythm dressed in vocals and guitar. Interestingly, the guitarist and, in some degree, the vocalist may very well have been replaceable in mutating the band. But the opposite would never work. Terry Kath could have filled these 2 roles and the music would have been just as legendary.

Led zeppelin albums sound FANTASTIC IN 2024, I cannot begin to fathom how it must’ve felt hearing them and their music wayyyy back in 1969 on and onwards, they were definitely ahead of their time, I’m 23 and only just got properly into led zep 6 months ago. Fkin quality music. Been massively into Rolling Stones, the Beatles CCR and of course the beach boys for many years now. Great music, great stuff.
