Yo you prolly know by now, but in the last vid of yours that I watched, I noticed you wasn't sure when to shift gears, so here it is: 5 = 50+ 4 = 40-50 3 = 35-40 2 = 20-30 N = 0 1 = 0-10 Hope this helps to anybody who doesn't know when to shift gears Also, THAT MODEL IS $7900, NOT THE REGULAR NINJA 500!!! The regular Ninja 500 is around 5.2k

Could you tell me the deets of your insurance? Liability, uninsured, collision/comprehensive deductible. On your other video you mentioned you paid 1.1k or 1.2k a year I think. Here in NorCal for that exact bike I was quoted 2.2k, 2.6k, 3.6k, 3.8k and 5.5k. I'm 32 with a clean record. I wanna get that same bike so bad, but insurance kills me. Try the uk. At 17yrs old Pay £220 for a CBT course. Buy your first motorcycle which will sadly have to be a 50cc or 125cc, then be stuck with two learner ‘L’ plates for two years till your atleast 19. Go pay £23 to do a road Theory test, then go pay £15 to do an ‘Off-Road’ Module 1, which is going around some stupidly placed cones in one of DVLA’s parking lots under exam conditions. Pass the test then go back another day which you need to pay atleast £75 for, which then they test you on the road watching your every move for about 45minutes, could be longer. Oh sorry did I forget to mention they expect you to have a bike capable of 33hp to 47hp?..and to be insured?..Yeah so get that out the way. Can’t be less, Can’t be more Horsepower. Ok sell your old 125, buy a 250 or something with the horsepower standard. -£2000 roughly, finish your test. Sort out your insurance, get scammed for £2000 a year lowest as a new inexperienced rider with TWO, ‘no claims’ bonus. Yeah they don’t expect you to ride like this for your first time, nah nah they want you to have atleast 20 years experience on the road in their eyes despite only being 19. Oh sorry one more detail I forgot to mention… You are restricted now for 2 years AGAIN till you want to do your test again at 21 years old and then ride whatever bike horsepower, CC, you want. Just gotta do the whole process again. That’s just for a young rider trying to do everything right. Nah but if you are 24, doesn’t matter if you’ve never been on the road before. They consider you a ‘Mature driver/rider’ So you can go straight in for your full bike licence test after completing the theory and get quoted cheap insurance despite having no insurance in the past…. The UK sucks compared to other countries when it comes to seeing videos like these man. I want to move elsewhere so bad just to enjoy bike life

As with the other people commenting: This video was a thrill to watch for us veterans. You did a great job of putting to practice what you learned in your MSF course. That first ride is always hair-rasing and you handled yourself very well. Only constructive criticism I can give is to make your shifts before a turn; that one left turn you made with the shifting was really sketch and can be a way to lose traction. Edit: As for the gear indicator flashing for early shifts, maybe that has something to do with Kawi incorporating the break-in period into their computer/TFT displays? That shifting did seem awfully early, but perhaps not from a break-in standpoint.

that feeling you get when you feel the wind is something else. I started out doing a lot of slow speed stuff to the point where it was all I associated riding with. I remember when I transitioned from nerves when starting out a ride during my initial stages of riding to relief sort of while feeling the wind at even a slower speed like 100km/h (60 mph) and being on the open road alone with my thoughts I was thinking "Wow - I get it now. I really love riding" Going from caution or nerves before a ride to anxious and eager to hit the road where you can open the throttle to a speed where you're comfortable at is where you;d find out how much you;re going to love riding. Good luck on your journey and remember try not to get mad at cars, but rather get evading. You can always expect some driver to do something that could put your life in danger. Thats life as a rider.

Add tapping the blinker cancel button to some other thing you do allot. Say something like (clutch in - shift gears - clutch out - cancel blinker)... Do that over an over even though your blinker is usually not on. Eventually it will feal weird if you don't tap it after shifting. Muscle memory.

Did you buy the Ninja 500 on instinct or did you test drive one after you passed your MSF? I'm hoping to buy a Ninja 500 but I'm in rural Ireland so getting to sit on one will take weeks whereas I can order one and have it at my house in a week (but buying blind). I'm only 5ft 6 so I'm worried about the seat height and the lean angle having only practiced on street bikes. It would be great to have a video about how you find the ergonomics of the bike. I have a friend who keeps telling me it is hard to get the foot down at stops when you are riding a sport bike due to the angle your leg/foot is at, have you found this to be true on the 500?
