And I'm sure Dr. Eckener was awake & making observations/taking notes about 98% of the time during the whole voyage.... 🚬😎

great film! Thank you so much for posting. In my research of lighter-than-air airships, I've noticed that almost every airship built after the Graf Zeppelin was built either for war, for the maintenance of an empire, or for political propaganda. The Graf 1 was built for peace with a vision of uniting the world. Only Graf 1 had a long a distinguished career. Most of the others met with violent ends, as a result of accident. Perhaps there is a message in this about our motive for why we create technology and how we use it.

Perhaps it foretold That the airship was ungainly and impractical. No use has been found in 100 years besides advertising and short range tourist flights. I doubt either make a proper profit. I think they were a gallant effort.

The Hindenburg was also developed as a passenger airship, but the Nazis were in power by the time it was finished. Hugo Eckener did not like swastika flags being painted on the tail, but of course had no choice in the matter.

Some nice diversity in the choice of girls for this film - I presume that was Alice McGrath's influence! Not bad practical stuff, either - general useful moves you can learn in a few minutes and remember.

Felix Uncia it’s her husband Bruce Tegner who’s the instructor in this film. He was an Armed Forces self defence teacher and an early pioneer of mixed martial arts. He was also practical in that he plainly spoke about your realistic chances of fighting when you were smaller, weaker or frailer than your attacker Sure, this video does go for yuks at times, but it makes for a more interesting presentation & whilst no one would claim you’d be a good fighter after this brief course, the message holds true...do enough to escape and get help.

Wow. I had Bruce Tegner's Karate book as a 13 year old kid and studied it religiously. It's nice to see him in action.

I'm sure that, had Germany not been so broke (bankrupt) during those years, and especially had they been able to build and operate a number of these commercial airships, they would have pursued developing ground handling machinery and equipment, to complement their beautiful airships.
