Just catching up after a few days away. Absolutely cracking video as usual! Great job on demo work Chris - so much mould. Exciting to see the bath Reno start, we are currently doing ours, exciting! Awesome job on the roof Paloma! Can't wait for the next video. P.s. Very jealous of your filming and editing skills - insane!

Are you supposed to use nails that go through the waterproof membrane? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the membrane if water can get through the same holes the nails created? I don't know what I'm talking about. Just sharing a thought :)

See how the Pinterest shades curve in at the bottom? You can make it like that too. You were so so close. Tip: you will need to deflate the ball to get it out of the papier mache if you curve the bottom of the shade inward.

I had a chimney that ran through the middle of my house, had 4 fireplaces - kitchen, lounge and both bedrooms. Ridiculous. I paid some disreputable oiks to rip out the chimney, which ruined my life for 3 months and made me wish i had soent money on a decent contracting firm. However, 2 years later the work is done and I've almost forgotten the fat knackers 😂 Props to you for having a go!

@@RestoringNumberFour we had a falling out when they wrecked the house, they were then kicked off the job and started threatening etc, didn't get them very far tbh. Eventually I got someone to get rid of the rubble, patch up the roof, finish the floor joists and the plasterboard on the ceilings, then the plastering, and finally the painting. They were supposed to cover the fireplaces so that when you drop bricks down them, those bricks do not turn into hand grenades when they hit the bottom of the chimney - chunks out of walls, doors, and floors in both the kitchen and lounge, broken items with sentimental value in the bedrooms, rubble under furniture, and what was between 9-12 tonnes of rubble on the drive. Honestly the worst job I've ever seen and it was my fault 😂

It's so true, isn't it! It's frustrating that baths take up so much space. It's difficult to justify using this much space for only once or twice a year, but then those moments you really need it they're essential! If only they could fold out!

@@RestoringNumberFour Well, I do a fair bit of sport, and some heavy gardening from time to time, and a good muscle soak is far superior to a shower. I'd say on balance it was worth us keeping one even if get properly used only two or three times a year. Also useful for washing car parts in it! 🤣

I think I would find the Japanese soaking tub hard with kids if the sides are as tall as they look… we have a deep bath and that was hard on my back in the beginning… as a mum with 2 toddlers, a bath is great but you can make anything work! And if I was house hunting and a bath was that important, I’d just be looking at other houses. I can’t see it being that much of an impact on resale… but this is reason #167 why I’m living vicariously through you guys… I wouldn’t be able to make these kinds of decisions 😂

I cannot get my head around the builder you guys are working with. You have truly found a unicorn. I'm envious! Pretty much everyone I've encountered has nothing but contempt for me doing any DIY, even tho so far everything we've done ourselves has been solid, it's just really slow. Truth is I'd love to hand it all over and go on hol but it just comes down to cost! How did you find someone up for collaborating? How did you approach it? FWIW we swore we'd never do a bath shower combo, hate them, just like you. But in the end we caved and right now i'm fitting exactly that. It was the kids (that we don't have yet) that swung it. I think it works better if you can get the bath to sit a bit lower, then you avoid that dodgy drop when you step out that could cause you to slip. Look into shallow and waterless traps. Should be easy for you to get your waste out anyway since the bath will be against the back wall. Good luck!

I'm a shower person while OH prefer soaking like a raisin. I prefer the Japanese concept of bath. Scrub clean before you soak. If space permits, separate electric shower for emergency should boiler breaks down and another thermostatic shower over bath. This is what I have in my house as the bath is handy for houseplants maintenance. If only my house is big enough for another bathroom, that would be even better. His and hers 😅

@@RestoringNumberFour Our shower room is tiny 1.8mx1.35m, so only big enough for a shower, but if I had the sort of space you have then a nice big shower, with a waterfall style and smaller moveable head would be ace. My only personal feedback are that showers that are not fully enclosed (i.e. across the full space with sliding doors) don't hold the heat as well, so i find you feel colder quicker.....which in an older house in winter might mean you don't spend as much time in it as you might want too! I'm definitely a shower girly (I found taking baths quite boring...). Maybe raising the shower with a little stair (or 2 ?) so you can sit on the boarder while washing a kid/a pet ?

Great job on the video! As for the bathroom, I really like the first idea but without the bath, keeping the feature window and having the toilet in that corner where the tub was and having a good sized sink next to it, and could you do the wet shower where it is on that wall? Or if the wet shower were to go along the feature window, can you still keep the feature window? It must be great learning all these new skills. Good job on fixing the roof Paloma, and smashing good work Chris on the demolition work. I'm sure what ever you both decide on the design and layout, it'll look fantastic😊
